Finally finished Eupho S1 after getting bogged down for an embarassingly long time. Good loving show. Kumiko and Reina are perfect together, and in other news, water remains wet. Also the show consistently nails all the moments I remember from the old band geek days - the drama over auditions and who gets to play, the tension of waiting for competition results, the cliques that form, various sorts of awkward kids bouncing off of each other in various ways - and the final performance scene is just stupidly well executed in terms of directing and animation. Very excited for S2.

I struggle to think of a single "band moment" other than football games and solo/small ensemble/jazz stuff from my own 'career' that didn't make it in. I had the biggest, goofiest grin on my face when they had that first really bad rehearsal and the director just stopped conducting, went "You guys aren't practicing, and right now you suck. Fix it. We'll try again in a week" and walked out. Kumiko almost getting cut from that tricky line and getting so frustrated, the bits in the last episode where they're loading the buses amid the excitement/tension of the upcoming competition, and when they were waiting for the results also hit home really hard. It's always really cool to see something you recognize gotten so right in a show or movie or whatever.
