Bernie's major problem is that he only has the one speech. The first time you hear it, it's amazing. "Holy poo poo, this guy gets it! He knows the score, the banks are loving us!"

But then you realize it's literally the only speech he has. He can't talk about anything else without pivoting back to income inequality. And yes, it's an important issue, but it is not the only issue.

Or something.

Yeah, this is pretty hosed up - especially since even the climate-change-denying Republican governor of Florida is saying "this storm is going to murder you, get the gently caress out".

I think it'll fade into the background noise of conspiracy theorists complaining about stolen primaries in a year or so. Unless Hillary somehow spectacularly fucks her Presidency up. Then we'll never hear the goddamn end of how loving great President Sanders would've been, guys.

I'm confused about it as well but I'm guessing the issue is that if the hurricane is bad, it will take time to clean up/get people able to move back home where they vote.

Also I'm guessing that most of the blue areas of Florida are on the coast, where the hurricane will hit hardest. The innards of Florida are probably blood red.

As heartened as I was by the stories of Obama's female staffers effectively employing amplification to make themselves heard, it's depressing that they needed to and that's one concrete thing I think the Hillary White House will be better at.

Yeah, I like Keepin' it 1600, but as woman I'm cognizant that they're very much acting in a "white guy" realm. I think they're good to get a sense of how the campaigns react to things, and I actually enjoy how they joke around, but I would really like a "campaign breakdown" podcast + intersectionality. From the space coast and northward? Absolutely.

This kind of storm (a coast hugging storm that impacts the whole state) with this kind of intensity is pretty drat rare.

Potentially could be the worst storm surge Jacksonville has ever seen.

Florida is definitely more prepared to deal with this than New Orleans was. They typically get fairly major hurricanes every few years, they just haven't really so far this century.

If the path goes as expected, Florida will get hit hard, lives will be lost, but it won't just ruin parts of the state like Katrina did.

If it radically changes and it parks directly on top of Miami or something it'll be real bad though.

It's just that Florida giving us Bush in 2000 and Trump in 2016 is the sort of mythical thing that feels like it might happen more than it actually will happen.
