If we are talking hurricane's impact on the election wouldn't the hurricane impact Trump's voters more because they are spread out all over the state? Hillary can throw staff at the couple of cities where her supporters are packed in while Trump's nonexistent infrastructure has to run everywhere.

I get that things today are so polarizing and it's impossible to change someone's mind by talking down to them and empathy is the only way to understand someone's point of view but I can't help but think that this approach changes nothing. Maybe you walk away feeling smugly superior for NOT shouting the person down and listening but really what do you do with this information?

I'd love something like this but with campaign insiders, but I just don't think there have been enough women and POCs for the odds to be good on that :smith:

I've been listening to Politically Reactive and Keeping it 1600. Both are interesting content in their own right and help inform my politics but I don't think either are perfect.

Hillarys absolute floor is currently in the 278 without Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Iowa, Arizona, and Georgia.

The path looks like it's going to hit North Florida more than south, and maybe the Georgia coast.

Which are heavily red areas, which could actually help Clinton in Florida and maybe even give her Georgia

Yeah, this is pretty hosed up - especially since even the climate-change-denying Republican governor of Florida is saying "this storm is going to murder you, get the gently caress out".

It's like he's deliberately trying to get people killed. There are people stubborn and ignorant enough to ride out what looks to be a catastrophic storm and Drudge is dumping gas on the fire by making it an act of defiance as well.

the georgia coast is pretty blue, i mean large portions of it are red but they're sparsely populated. then you have savannah, which is a blue stronghold

atlanta is the highest concentration of dem votes by far, but georgia's other four cities are also blue, plus athens

chatham county (savannah) is the northmost blue county on the coast, the other is liberty county which is pretty rural

mostly this is also a map of "which counties in georgia are minority-majority"

e: doing the math, romney won mcintosh, glynn, camden, and bryan counties and got almost 60k voters there. obama got 60k voters in chatham county alone, plus another 10k in liberty county. so it's purple at best

This is the dumbest thing I have read today.

The author's responses in the comments cemented my impression of him:

some dickhead in the comment section posted:

Before reading your article, I wasn’t a Trump supporter. I’m still not. But, I am definitely not a Hillary supporter.

She should be in jail. She jeopardized the lives of all Americans, domestic and abroad. She is scandalous. She is a career politician that flip-flops on beliefs (not circumstances). You know something is shady when the person that is responsible for putting you in jail, has a private meeting with your husband (a former president) tens of hours before having to make that decision.

the author posted:

I absolutely agree on the front of Clinton. I don’t at all support her. I feel the left needs a better option, and more importantly a better direction than neoliberalism.

Inb4 this is canceled because Toyota threaten to drop their sponsorship.

Also, can y'all stop acting like this hurricane is a political topic and not a potential tragedy? People will die from it, there are bigger things at stake and focusing on the politics of it is insensitive.

You know the bad people aren't going to do this, right? And then when they use it as a political topic, the good people who might have abstained from using it as a political topic then have the choice of staying silent and letting bad people dominate the narrative or joining them in making it a political topic?

So why don't we just skip that inevitable stuff and accept that basically anything that occurs anywhere is a potential political topic.
