Yes and no. Putting off maintenance on an other part that is not part of the current cycle increases the risk of something going wrong. Naturally if it is something critical it gets fixed, but having to pay extra instead of just fixing it on the spot with your in-house crew can't really be saving that much money for the increased risk along with the time lag by having to fly an empty aircraft away from your hub.

I have an "Eliza" coming tonight. She added me a bit ago and last night out of the blue after 11pm was like "Let me come to your house for sex." I refused because it was so sudden and it hadn't come up yet. She explained more to me about her high-stress sales job and getting into the sunk-cost fallacy that business people tend to do. She even took up being the office translator for every thing, so she's working more than anyone else. 10-12 hour days. No actual life. No friends outside of work. Just go to work and come home and sleep. She wants to save up a ton of money and then move back to her hometown a few years later.
She said she hasn't been laid in a couple years and decided, because of Traditional Chinese Medicine, that it's time to get some dick because it will balance her health (not even making this up). TCM has been the scourge of my conversations in China, but this one I am not fighting.
We had a very business-like discussion about FWB situation and it has been decided that she will come late 1-3 nights per week after work and shower to get her relief, and no butt stuff. No relationship, nothing outside of my room, and continue our normal Wechat talking when she's not here. My rule was that she brings me a big box of chopped fruit every time.

I just really hope she doesn't up in my "LOL crazy person" story pile.

Since Shenzhen is known as the tech city in China, there are lot of foreign tech nerds and programmers here. I live near one of those software company job areas, so daily I see white guys that are obvious programmers or IT specialists or whatever they are. I'm always surprised to see them, because you would think that all of the tropes of goons would not be present this far from their home countries, but they are.
Giant cargo pants, cargo shorts with white or black socks pulled way up, greasy unwashed hair, unshaven faces covered in pimples, humongous Targus laptop backpacks with way too much poo poo stuffed in them, double chins, ponytails, fat as hell or sickly thin, skin white as printing paper, goony pop culture t-shirt or short-sleeve plaid shirt, those ugly brown urban hiker shoes autists like to wear, etc. It's like every goon.jpg rolled into a human and sent out to huff and puff and sweaty profusely in China while the locals gawk and point as much as possible.

The few times I have seen these guys with girls, she's always the Chinese female version of him and just as goofy.
Tonight I saw several, including one with a graying ponytail past his butt, but I also got to see a rare hunchbacked white girl in sloppy clothes and really stringy unwashed hair, anime backpack, and huge glasses. I thought it was a teenage kid at first, and then I recognized she was nearing her thirties at least. We made eye contact and I think she saw the look of bewildered amusement on my face, so she returned to staring at her pink shoes.

Chinese sports fans have taken to the streets to demand the resignation of the president of China’s football association after the national side crashed to a shock defeat to Syria in a major blow to president Xi Jinping’s football revolution.

Xi, who Communist party propagandists promote as a dedicated football fan, has vowed to turn China into a footballing superpower.
...
Forty-thousand fans had packed the Zhuque Stadium in the northern city of Xi’an to see China, ranked 78th in the world by Fifa, take on Syria, a footballing minnow ranked 114th, just ahead of Turkmenistan, Lithuania, Palestine and North Korea.
...
“Last night Syria, a country which has been suffering wars for many years, whose manager earns just 2,000 yuan (£240) each month, defeated China whose players earn millions of yuan. It is time for China’s national football team to have a good think,” one critic wrote on Weibo.
...
Some disillusioned fans called for Team China’s manager, Gao Hongbo, to be sacked and replaced with Lang Ping, the revered coach of China’s female volleyball team.
LOL. Everything about this is LOL, but also shows how out of touch the fans and teams are. I like the idea to simply replace the coach with one from another sport and that will solve everything.

Remember how Vancouver had a Chinese flag-raising ceremony?

The Vancouver Sun posted:

A coalition of Chinese immigrants rallied at Vancouver City Hall on Thursday, calling on Coun. Kerry Jang to resign after a controversial flag-raising ceremony last week.

During the ceremony, held outside City Hall last Friday to mark China’s National Day on Oct. 1, Jang hoisted a Chinese flag up a large flagpole. He, along with Richmond East MP Joe Peschisolido, also spoke at the event while wearing a red scarf.

The celebration angered many Vancouverites who say red scarves symbolize loyalty to Chinese communism, and were worn by the fanatical Red Guards during Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution in the 1960s. They sent an open letter to councillors and Peschisolido seeking assurances that such an event doesn’t happen again.

“We demand our government officials, members of legislative assembly and parliament put our Canadian values first when they deal with Sino-Canadian affairs,” read the letter, signed by Louis Huang, a spokesman for a group called the Alliance of the Guard of Canadian Values.

Jang previously told Postmedia he filled in at the event on behalf of Deputy Mayor Heather Deal, who was unable to attend. He could not be reached Thursday.

Meanwhile, Peschisolido said in an interview that he regretted having worn the red scarf.

He said he had been handed the item and told that it was “a symbol of 5,000 years of Chinese culture and civilization.”

“I looked around and everyone else was wearing it, so I said okay.”

Peschisolido said he later learned what the scarf represents to many Chinese-Canadians.

But the Liberal MP said he did not regret being there that day.

“If I had to do it again, I still would have gone,” he said. “I got the opportunity to speak, where I talked about the importance of economic ties between Canada and the People’s Republic of China. … But I also spoke about the importance of human rights, the importance of democracy, the importance of freedom of the press and freedom of one’s faith.”
