twoday posted:I wonder if this is what Alzheimer's feel like, just like an unpredictable remix of everything you've experienced in life, which very few other people truly understand im permabanned poster twoday. i first started posting memes when i was about 12. by 14 i got really obsessed with the concept of "lulz" and tried to channel it constantly, until my thought process got really bizarre and i would repeat things like "dolan pls" and "steamed hams" in my head for hours, and i would get really paranoid, start forgetting the names of my friends and family etc, basically prodromal alzheimers. im now on gene therapy. i always wondered what the kind of "spicy" style of memes humor was all about; i think it's the unconscious leaking in to the conscious, what jungian theory considered to be the cause of dementia and alzheimer's syptoms. i would advise all people who "get" memes to be careful because that likely means you have a predisposition to a mental dregredation. dicks out for harambe.

cinci is right. It's easy to believe the "hype" around 4chan, but despite being billed as "the unrestrained id of the internet" it's really a dumping ground for juvenile and vaguely alt-right poo poo that even reddit won't tolerate in large amounts.

I think my 12 years here have spoiled me for message boards and internet communities. Tried Reddit but it's over-rated and mainly terrible. Imgur is good as an image host but the community is basically just Reddit but ever so slightly worse if that's possible.

Like, posts are listed by how popular they are? How does that have any narrative flow during a discussion?? Also Imgur isn't actually an image host. It's against their rules for you to upload images to post on other websites.

Ak Gara posted:Also Imgur isn't actually an image host. It's against their rules for you to upload images to post on other websites. That's not correct. The exact wording is "don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network. If you do – and we will be the judge ... we will ban you along with the site you're hotlinking from, delete all your images ... and prevent you from viewing any images hosted on Imgur.com" What they don't want you to do is use them as image hosting for an entire website. Obviously you can use them to post images on forums or whatever. They specifically give you direct image links and BBcode to make it easier to do so.
