when someone gets arrested for a gross sex crime there's always people going "well i always knew he was a creepy gently caress" savile got away with it partly because his whole gimmick was being a creepy gently caress so when he would make vague braggish references to his "tastes" people would just roll their eyes and go "oh jimmy you silly man" also partly because he was signing massive donation checks and kids say the weirdest things so why believe them
