Seriously, Begala taking about Victor Yanokovich jailing his political opponent and being Putins lap dog and tying that to Trumps behavior with regard to Russia was masterful.

Dr Christmas posted:What did Clinton do wrong? She stumbled hard on the question about the Wikileak releases (and may have contradicted her campaign on those) and failed to hit Trump on a lot of vulnerabilities. She also screwed up the last question in a way that made her look petty and gave Trump the chance to end on a very strong note.

A lot of the tepid response by the deplorables to debate 1 was him not hitting her on EMAILS and Benghazi.

I think she played a little close to the vest and didn't respond to some of the crazy poo poo he said, but I think she's fine. First poll dropped with her winning and I think in the post-debate spin she'll win as people start unpacking all the dumb crazy poo poo he said.

So the fact that he was France vs. Germany, 1940, rather than Poland vs. Germany, 1939, is being interpreted as a victory.

Mulva posted:The bar for Trump is literally "Not as bad as the worst thing he ever did". At any given moment, whatever the worst thing he did is? Anything better than that is good. Not "An improvement", it's flat out good and inspiring and a win for him. And as he keeps doing increasingly worse and worse things, the amount of terrible things he can do and still be called "Strong" is increasing. By the actual election date he'll be able to rape a woman and get away with it, because it will be better than that time he raped a baby. The fist debate was a festering gut wound, the tapes are a gushing arterial bleed, this debate was a bloody nose. I fully expect Clinton's next of kin to concede the race tomorrow.

She played it way too passively, and fumbled a couple questions. He was just dreadfully awful on the early stuff about the tape and talking to the Muslim woman, but he finished strong enough for immediate response to be a win. He said a lot of things though that are already going to look really bad in any post-debate attack ads though, especially if a second audio tape drops.
