I still used it some, but after a few years of heavy use, the screen became dim and it would only turn on every third try and started freezing in the middle of songs which sucked because I used it commuting on my motorcycles and either would have to pull over or ride without tunes the rest of the way. The best sounding mp3 player I ever had was an iRiver but it was a glitchy POS that would rarely make it through a couple songs before crashing.

It amazes me that an ipod shuffle is the same price as a generic MP3 player with a full color screen and the ability to play whatever you want. I don't know how Apple tricked people into buying that thing. Really expensive and only plays random songs. A few years ago my original Phillips GoGear disappeared so I went to walmart to find a new mp3 player. I couldn't find anything so I thought "Maybe I'll just finally get a drat ipod." I looked and the shuffle is 50 dollars and the cheapest actual ipod is 100 dollars. I was about to give up until I walked around a corner and next to all the lovely headphones was a Phillips GoGear for 40 dollars. I picked that up and I'm still using it when I mow the lawn.

I dunno that the ipod shuffle did that well but it was definitely marketed at a niche of runners who wanted to wear its unique shape and color as a status symbol badge but that never really panned out. I see people jogging now with big iphones and androids strapped to their arms and it looks ridiculous and very uncomfortable so maybe they were onto something

The Shuffle's awesome. My mom still uses hers for jogging. It's a tank with great battery life. Fantastic product, really. Doesn't only play random songs, you can sync songs in a particular order if an unpredictable immediate future is scary to you.

Hell, I remember pizzahut.com had an online storefront in like 1997. It was an HTML form with a gray background and blue links, and I don't think I ever saw a way for it to tell where you were physically or what store you were ordering from, but it allegedly worked.

I love char siu so it's not a total loss but it's my own drat fault for not checking the boxes.

He felt pretty smug about how he "outsmarted" their system and got one those fancy Apple products out of it, then he installed iTunes and clicked yes on all the buttons that popped up. I can't remember what iTunes did but it was over 10 years ago and he's still sour about it.

Wow, it has a terrible interface and doesn't make any sound when you're fast-forwarding. The font is so small I can't read where it's up to! Back to the E100 I go.

Don't quote me on this but the C64 is fed low voltage DC from a power brick and a brief search suggests an American 110/60 brick would work on a PAL machine. You'd still have to deal with the PAL50 video signal somehow

I've only seen black and white pictures of the SX-64 - the quality of design really surprised me (I always keep forgetting that Commodore was a) American and b) not only about mass-market designs like VIC-20/C64). That keyboard design is tasty as all hell and oh my god those blue highlights  I guess I know without asking that someone has already turned one of these into a regular old PC with a small LCD screen and gotta say, the prospect does intrigue me.

I busted out my dad's old record player. Waiting for the preamp to be delivered so I can listen to some kickin rad tunes. Edit: I finally got the preamp. I don't know why people spend so much money on hifi equipment. I've got this record player for free from my dad. The internet says it is "a good starter turntable." This preamp was 20 bucks. I run straight from that into a RCA to 3.5mm cable to a Koss remote volume cable into my headphones. And this Joan Jett record that I got from an antique store several years ago, which has probably been played so many times that it doesn't sound as good as when it was new sounds amazing. This is pretty awesome for a 20 dollar investment. Everything else was either given to me or I've already got my money's worth in other ways. The only other money I'd need to spend is to maybe get a new cartridge for it. The original manual says it's good for about 300 hours. I don't know when or if my dad ever replaced it so it probably needs replacing.

all my good audio equipment was inherited and it's all loving awesome compared to what you can get today (all purchased roughly 75-'90). I bought one thing myself, a Kenwood amp in the early 00s, that i thought was pretty crap at the time but is still in service in my home. It sounds good compared to modern stuff at the same price point but sadly i lost the remote which is the only modern feature to differentiate it from my old silver faces. if you dont have anything like that in the family just start scouring craigslist. some people know what this equipment is worth but most dont and you can get great deals if youre patient thathonkey has a new favorite as of 06:43 on Oct 13, 2016 |

My grandmother has some really old good stereo equipment they use just listen to the news radio on. I'm sure when they were younger they had that stuff cranked to 11 on the account of being on a property with no nearby neighbours and some of the amazingly cool records. We were chatting about Meatloaf a few months ago, and I finally bought Bat out of Hell and told her about his new album. She bought the new one and I got a txt that simply said "It's poo poo". Good old grandma.
