Beck was the prime mover of all the early Obama era conspiracy poo poo, the Lee Skousen, new world order poo poo that ignited the fire that now fuels a lot of these shitforbrains. Remember when he had a 3 part episode of his show about Soros being the dark liberal puppetmaster of the new order, and he'd go nuts on his chalkboard circling names and drawing connections like a Hollywood caricature of a lone conspiracy nut? He's probably more responsible for Trump and the Tea Party-turned-altright than anyone. How the gently caress is he now the only person from the Hannity/Rush/Levin/Savage/Coulter/Morris faction that hasn't bent the knee? Is it just the Mormonism?

I was explaining to a friend the other day why Beck hates Trump and boiled it down to Beck really tripling down on his faith lately. Unlike the evangelicals who just want their misogynist, white supremacists strongman, Mormons tend to be true believers. They're looking for candidates with what they view as a moral center and then failing that, one who will at least represent their goals. Mormons can identify Trump's espoused faith as fake, but they also rankle at Trump's xenophobia that evangelicals embrace. There's a history of Mormons being an oppressed minority and can identify with other marginalized groups. Most would have still grudgingly voted for a philandering charlatan on tactical reasoning, but for some like Beck, Trump's immoral behavior and unhinged hatred of out-groups is simply too much to palate.
