On my LG G3 all I could do with their bloat apps was disable them. They never could go away completely.

This is annoying with Verizon message+, this is baffling on NFL Mobile.

The Pixel apps will be uninstallable because they are being installed from the Play Store upon activation using Android's built in functionality to do so rather than having them baked into the ROM.

Thinking of switching our two lines to Verizon from Tmobile and have a few questions.

1) My wife's phone is a iPhone 6 plus. She had the screen replaced from a non-apple store and has dropped it some more. The screen is cracked AND coming up off the frame of the phone but otherwise works fine. Would Verizon accept it for a trade in or should we get the screen repaired first? I read somewhere they won't take iPhone's that have had 3rd party screen repairs.

2) We want to get a Pixel and an iPhone. Is it possible to pre-order the pixel (to get the free daydream vr) with the iPhone, or what is the best way to go about that?

Update on my iPhone 6 trade in fiasco:

I eventually called my local Verizon store, because corporate customer service and social media just weren't getting anything done, and basically just telling me to wait and see if the price gets correct. The local rep looked up my info, and saw the reason the trade-in price was different was because the IMEI number did not match what they were expecting, as my phone as replaced at the Apple store the previous month. After about five minutes on hold, the rep took care of the issue by submitting a Trade-In Correction form.

So just a heads up: if you replaced your phone and took advantage of the $650 trade in deal, you may have issues.

Get the phone repaired. They don't care if it's a third party screen. Depends on which iPhone you are getting. The 7+ are backordered a month, so if she wants an iPhone that's crazy backordered, I would get her 6+ unlocked and use it as a bring your own device and order an iPhone 7 whatever. Any decent sales rep would be more than happy to do the leg work for you (although you have to call T-Mobile to make sure that phone is unlocked). So I would go by a Verizon company store.

FYI this is now a known issue. Verizon has whatever back end system that now will fix it. But anyone who got the promo, def check, make sure they notate your account, etc.

If you mean early upgrade (aka edge up) you should be able to preorder, they just ship a box to send your old phone back once you get new phone.

Thanks man! I remember you from back in the day, when you worked for Sprint.

Assuming we get the phone fixed and go to Verizon, would both lines qualify for the pay to switch program since our lines would activate at different times and have two final bills?

The t-shirt plans are all two-year contracts, yeah?

I'm thinking of starting a 12 plan, four lines total. I have two Pixels coming in from Google direct; I'm porting two T-Mobile numbers to those. I have two Verizon-branded phones I got off swappa that I am putting one new line on, and porting one line from a Tracfone to.

I should probably do this all in-store to make sure everything is copacetic before I leave, yeah? What documentation will I need for the ports? Will I need to do anything with the Pixels before bringing them in to make sure they can get activated correctly? Where exactly does the carryover data "start?" - if I use 15GB on the plan, will I carry over 5GB automatically, or does it pull from the 12 before the extra 2GB/line so I'd end up with 0 carryover?

Thanks!

Yep. It's actually difficult (if it's even really possible, anymore) to get into a 2 year contract with the major carriers.

Early trade ups on two year contracts is by retention system, if that offer is there same thing applies, they ship the box for it. But I would call or go into a store for a question like that.

Deathlove posted:

Everything is month to month correct. The only agreements could be if you get phone on 24 month payment plan.

I don't think bonus data carries over, but you do use bonus data before regular data plan.

And go into a store and make some nice reps day. Ask nicely and they'll probably waive your act fees.

Verizon still does two year contracts, but usually device payment is cheaper.

You can get phones as good as the iPhone for considerably less.

FWIW I loathe iOS as well and the Nexus 6P is a great bigphone that works on Verizon. And it doesn't explode!

But I actually have a question about Verizon:
I'm currently on Project Fi and it's been decent, but I still get deadzones here and there and I was thinking of going to Verizon. I don't use a lot of data so I'm confident I wouldn't go over 2 GB a month, so is there any reason not to do the prepaid? If I'm understanding correctly, the regular plan would be $55 a month while the prepaid is $45. Is there something else about the regular plan I'm missing?

Not missing anything really, prepaid just won't do credit based stuff like paper bill, phone installment plan, and other things that normal customers need but you probably are fine with.
