BrianWilly posted:Isn't this film pretty far along in production? Do we know who's playing Laura yet? So about a year ago they made a porn parody of Wolverine. The plot of which involved (amoung other things.) Domino having sex with Logan and Lady Deathstryke having sex with Sabertooth. And at the end it is revealed that Cl. Stryker and Professor Cornelius had hired them to get sperm samples from former members of Weapon X. And it was all part of their plan so they could create X-23 (who was teased for a sequel that I suspect never happened. Though they did go on to make an Avengers vs. X-Men porn parody so who knows how the plot continued.) Anyway I found it really funny that a porn film managed to find an organic way to fold in X-23 into the plot of a Wolverine film. And I hope that this movie will do it justice.

Some new comic tidbits out today: - Dr. Strange has over an hour of Imax footage. Roughly 60% of the movie is shot in Imax. So it might be worth it to get an Imax ticket. - Gal Gadot says that there will not be a huge amount of action in Wonder Woman. They want to shoot a "heroic and epic drama" that involves love and character interactions. There will be at least an opening battle and a conflict at the climax. - Captain Marvel is confirmed to be an origin story and will be structured in a way similar to Ant-Man. She will also be in Infinity War, but might not have powers yet. - Kevin Feige says that they had plans for Blade, but that currently there are "no immediate plans" for Blade. They are going to do something with him in the future. Feige says his own Netflix show or a MCU reboot are the most likely options, but neither of them will happen for at least 2 years. - He hasn't been announced at all and it might just be a teaser, but Dormammu is in Dr. Strange from the 15-minute preview they released. His symbol appears in a book Strange uses and his face appears in a flame that the villain gazes into. - Logan is based on Old Man Logan, but only loosely. It won't be post-apocalyptic.

Carol Danvers being in Infinity War has always been the most logical choice, it also makes sense why she was cast 3 years before her solo film comes out and no one else. Show her being a complete bad rear end that's competent before she gets powers is also a good idea. I saw a really loving dumb thing today, people seriously want Shia LeBeouf as Jason Todd. Like what the gently caress? No one wants that, especially Shia. Is there some crossover between hardcore Transformers Fandom and Red Hood Fandom? I need to find it again, but I saw something that there are rumors WB has been really unhappy with Jared Leto's whining about not being in Suicide Squad enough that they're looking to just dump him from any future films. Obviously, just a rumor, but when you have an actor you were banking on being a major part of your shared universe by being a massively popular character whining like a child, plus being extremely hard to work with on set, its not impossible to imagine.

You have of course the hardcore Joker fans who think it was the best thing ever, but then you get people who are in the try hard camp. I honestly cannot remember what critics said about it. The main thing about Shia is that I really doubt he wants to commit to another huge blockbuster franchise again.

Critical consensus of Leto's performance was overwhelmingly negative; most hated how the pr sold the audience a bill of goods on a character who barely appears in the film, many considered his performance one of the worst aspects of the film, especially in direct contrast to Margot Robbie, who most considered one of the few unequivocal bright spots of SS. There was a small but strongly passionate minority who considered his performance one of the best aspects of SS, to be fair, although, again: firmly in the minority. Most everyone else considered it terrible and overhyped or, even worse in some ways, just plain mediocre.

Leto was so bad and universally disliked that there's a theory going around that they purposefully made the shittiest Joker possible in a film that barely has the Joker in it so that whoever they cast in the Batfleck Joker film doesn't get directly compared to Heath Ledger. It's gained a lot of traction due to Jared Leto's Joker appealing to no one except people who would eat poisonous bugs if they were Joker-branded.

Aphrodite posted:I can't think of what's different enough about Ant Man's structure to use that as the comparison. The gist of it from the quote was that it would focus on how a "normal" person existed and lived life in the military and as a civilian in a world with Superheroes. How a new superhero is born and exists in a world where superheroes are a thing already, but she is kind of on her own. Plus, all the traditional origin story aspects. It's going to be similar to Ant-Man in that she is connected to the greater MCU, but no major cameos and almost all of the main cast will be new characters.

None of those are cameos. They're integral parts of the story (maaaaaybe excepting Black Widow). The Falcon fight could have been removed entirely with zero detriment to the story.

If Falcon isn't a "major cameo" it's because a 5-minute scene exceeds the definition of a cameo, which I can certainly understand, but is in direct opposition to what Feige is saying. The others you mentioned are important supporting characters and certainly cannot be called cameos by even the thinnest definition of the word.

The examples of the other characters were just my interpretation of what he meant when he said Ant-Man was different from other recent MCU movies. I think he was just trying to say that Captain Marvel is not going to have any major crossovers and they will be in the style of Falcon in Ant-Man. Cameo was my word. So, I might have made it less clear by saying that.
