Good lord the character animation in this is absurdly good. So many little dramas and joys and so many other emotions drawn with such care.

Japanese women do not sound like mice! anyway, men sound weird in a lot of anime too. it's exaggerated acting.

Who was the girl playing rock-paper-scissors with Hazuki at the midway point? I don't remember her.

for anyone curious, this is the song that played on the bus scene in episode 1 and on kumiko's earbuds in episode 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGNObWgU2Qw it's a fun song to sing in the chorus for, if a bit murderous on your vocal chords

she was one of the other girls part of the loser club (aka those not participating in the competition), you see her enter the pool with blondie

oh yeah. there was that ova about the loser club so that's why hazuki and her were hanging out probably.

I forgot most of the OVA. Fortunately it's on Crunchy.

New episode was...okay. Didn't match 1, but that goes without saying. Kumiko's talks with all the upperclassmen were pretty good - it was good to get Nozomi's perspective in particular. Reina should go ahead and try and ask Taki-sensei out ASAP so she can get shot down and move on with her life.

Mizore is dangerously close to quitting in the middle of the competition. They are screwed without an oboe, right?

Because if they're not already committed to a major Oboe solo, losing that particular sound wouldn't usually be a disaster.

And Shuichi gets eaten by a bear during camp so no flaws from the visual novel may blemish this gorgeous japanimation.

I'm going to enjoy if/when Shuuichi suddenly becomes relevant again out of nowhere and sweeps Kumiko off her feet cause I know the backlash will be just palpable.

im not going to enjoy it, because that would be insanely stupid and i don't derive enjoyment from seeing people get frustrated by things they like, which happen to be things i also like but also i don't want shuichi to get eaten by a bear

here's an idea: shuichi continues to exist, and even participate as a character, but also doesn't become a love interest for kumiko

these last two episodes have been a teeny bit underwhelming for me because they're focusing more on new characters than building on the established relationships

this show is insanely gorgeous and also has a lot of really subtle characterization that would be interesting to point out and talk about oh, i know what i should post about, whether or not some minor side character will stick his dick in the protagonist and what that does/doesn't say about japanese homosexuality, internet culture, and my own self-worth as a human being. that'll definitely create interesting discussion.
