When I was in 5th grade I started being a latchkey kid after school, and sometimes I would walk to the nearby strip mall, which was about a mile away down a 4-lane road. I used to count the number of cars that honked at me. It was never less than two, and I think the record was seven. At the time I was mostly just baffled - did they not realize I was only like 11 or 12? I hadn't even hit puberty yet. It was years before I realized they weren't mistaking me for an older teen, they just didn't care.

My little sister's boyfriend's friend drove her home from high school one day, then pulled into a parking lot somewhere and tried to assault her. She never told me exactly how far he got before she managed to shove him off her/persuade him to stop. It seemed pretty apparent from the way she told the story that in his mind, he thought he was seducing her. She didn't tell my parents for a week until they asked what was wrong. Luckily my parents are awesome and believed her immediately. But her boyfriend didn't. He took his friend's side and broke up with her. She still had to see them both every day in school. She already had issues with depression, and this just made it worse. If my parents hadn't believed her I don't know if she would be ok right now, or frankly even alive.

According to Rick Wilson everyone had the oppo. They tried to release some stuff but the media didn't seem to really care at the time.

Examples of the media neglecting stories until now: The sexual assault accusations/lawsuit, Howard Stern tapes...

There's a lot more I'm forgetting, but if I remember correctly it was Scott Walker's camp who were first to take Trump seriously and put together an oppo file that was then given to the Jeb camp. It seemed that the bigger story for the media at the time was Jeb's continued failure and the sideshow of the Trump campaign.
