canadians have the weirdest pronunciation for cars for some reason

they say mazda as a nasal "maa-zdah", with the first syllable like in "math", kinda rhymes with NASDAQ

and hyundai is "hunday", rhymes with sunday. it's not hard to say "hyoon" but nope, even the dealer commercials it's HUNDAY HUNDAY HUNDAY.

nissan is pretty much how it's written but with a short i. piss on your nissan.

also when talking about super mario, mario lemieux, etc they will say "mary oh"

you forgot how toyota somehow becomes "tai-yotta"

i'm actually like, legit interested in the capacity of videogames and the like to show how people were living, how they experienced things - how a conflict affected people's lives, basically, whether soldier or civilian.
shame that 100% of the time they'll sacrifice that to make it fun, but i guess they gotta *sell* the games too. which'll also limit what conflicts actually get that sort of attention - there's tactics games for just about any conflict in history, but you're never going to play someone taken from their family to fight in the napoleonic wars, or like, a pikeman in any of the many, many european wars of succession, or something

Literature is not exhaustible, for the sufficient and simple reason that no single book is. A book is not an isolated being: it is a relationship, an axis of innumerable relationships.

this is true for AAA titles but check out "this war of mine" and (to a lesser extent) "valiant hearts" for counterexamples

i don't know anybody that does any of these except hyundai and i haven't met a single person canadian or otherwise who says "hyoon". i usually hear hunday or hyun-die. so there.

oh yeah i'm definitely aware of those
i have a little bit of an issue with Valiant Hearts - it's a very touching game, but there's a fair bit of humour where i don't really think there should be?
not to be making GBS threads on stuff like the wipers times, i mean humour for the player's sake.

it's been a while since i touched it, tho.
haven't played This War Of Mine, i've heard great things, and i want to, but whenever i have the chance to, i forget to buy it.
