Plus if Sledgehammer gets their AW2 in, then we can probably write off IW as Ghosts In Space.

honestly.. after putting some time into IW... I remember that AW had some poo poo in it that I liked. But, its still a Beta, and there is tons of poo poo that they can change for the better on the fly. So we'll see. I'm leaning towards buying it right now.

Remember, AW is still being actively maintained. One of the post-cycle patches seemed to nerf the Bal and ASM1. And for Halloween there's some themed variants. And then the whole 7 days of free guns for Sledgehammer Week or something.

Give me CoDOL in English and without any of the weird software and I'll consider a eulogy for IW.

Plus we don't know how the micro transactions are gonna be.

I loving wish Raven took their place, let them out of that DLC map hell they're into now and let them make games again. I'm sure they'd do a better cod than any other devs if they were the main devs.

Also still hopeful for a heretic/hexen remake.

Edit: Question is for me: Cod 4 remaster on the xboner or the ps4.

I don't know how they can possibly shoehorn microtransactions into MWR because the game doesn't have the required mechanics for that. Cosmetic weapon skins? I'd be fine with that.

I also can't see Activision ever releasing MWR separately because it will kill all future COD sales. But IW Legacy Editions will hopefully go down in price, they don't seem to be limited.

that dude.

For a beta it's fun.
Maps feel very similar to each other, they could use less corners and more cover.
SMG outclass every gun, AR need a major change as well since LMG do everything they would normally do.
TAR grenade is incredibly fun to use against snipers. I think snipers benefit too much from the flinch perk. You can light them up they'll still hit you across map.

Overall it's a decent game just very imbalanced ATM.

The sniper rifles have aim assist again and very generous hit boxes. Like you can shoot slightly above someone's head and it still hits.

Explains a lot, why did they have to bring it back like this. Black ops 3 finally fixed that cancer.

Because infinity ward loves snipers. Exhibit a: the marksman perk in this poo poo game.

Marksman is the poo poo for other guns. I could snipe people with that perk and the Type 95 (and a bunch of other guns) in MW3.

I didn't see a sound whoring perk so I'm probably going to use Marksman all the time.

I only want two things out of IW at this point:

1. Reduce the snap aim from snipers, do not bring it back to Black ops 2 level, there is no skill involved and is simply annoying as poo poo. Black ops 3 sniping was fine and still effective.
2. Fix the lag or at least explain how it works. Let us see our ping like Black ops 3 did on console, let us know if our NAT is restricted or not. Black ops 3 had lag problems that were fixed (for me, prolly not the same for everyone) in the first three weeks and I enjoyed that game for most of its lifespan due to how responsive it felt.

That's it, I liked the gun, I like the variants, I like the "clean" futuristic serious look with the faceless mercenaries. The mission teams stuff is fun and give me decent challenges and rewards. The guns (most of them) sound good and have a great look and feel to them. I will probably end up buying it on PS4 if more goons say they'll get it.

ASK ME ABOUT APPEARING OFFLINE SO I DON'T HAVE TO TELL FRIENDS THEY'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR MY VIDEO GAME TEAM.
My main issue with the game is that the connection seems off. My hope, perhaps naive hope, is that it will improve at release. It's only a beta, right guys? :ohdear: Other than that I quite like it and see myself playing it over MWR. The variant system should add a layer of variety to the game and another layer of grind which can be fun. The salvage earn rate seems a tad slow. From the trailers I was under the impression that salvage would be the equivalent to cryptokeys, but from what I understand the only way to earn salvage is by opening chests, not earned after every match like keys in Blops 3. With legendary and epic variants costing thousands of salvage, I foresee it taking a really long time earning certain variants. The movement system feels fine (the Propulsion trait is super fun to use as a Jumping rear end in a top hat TM. I'm not sure where the complaints of the game being slow came from. Sure, the jumping is bit more heavier than Blops 3, but I feel more than confident traversing the environment and dunking on fools via aerial hijinks. This also is looking to be the first CoD in a while that hasn't had a dominate burst rifle. Speaking of gun balance, it's looking like SMGs are dominant once again. Not a surprise given the movement system but I don't think ARs are as bad as something people think, the NV4 is really solid and the Type 2 is really fun to use as a rusher in akimbo mode while still retaining the option for AR range. Maps are decent, I don't hate Frontier like some other people do. In fact, it has kinda grown on me. I've found it easier to avoid the basement and always be flanking on the top floor and hopping down to shoot the pubbies in back staring down the B hallway.

I had a more positive experience yesterday. I still miss Treyarch's philosophy towards weapon balance (SMG and snipers still felt obnoxiously lethal), but I started to feel more in tune with the way IW plays. The new map was a big help since it's the largest so far. It also puts more wall-runnable surfaces within reach of one another, so it feels like a bigger, more distinct route, rather than Blops's blunter "WALL-RUN HERE TO FLANK" approach.

Also, I fell in love with the P-LAW launcher. It has a short wind-up like the P-06, but then it fires an exploding plasma ball that's way faster and more accurate than the rocket launcher. Learn to lead UAVs by about one UAV length and you're golden.

Played some more today, slowly warming up to it, but as always I can see the matches where the lag chooses that I am NOT winning any firefights. If the lag is fixed I can see myself playing this.

Though I've got to say the NV-4 with a silencer is funny stuff, it's pretty consistent at long ranges and I can get a few kills before they realise where I'm shooting from. I have yet to do good with smgs even though I get absolutely destroyed by them, so far what do you guys think are the "op" weapons of the beta?

I managed to pick up a Relentless with a sniper on Frontier. Who needs the ACOG M40 in MWR when you can do this? BTW Marksman really does reduce flinch to zero on snipers.

Things I still don't like but could be easily fixed:

1. The font. It's terrible, grainy and looks low budget. It might be my tv but I highly doubt it.

2. The font size. It's too small and everything is hard to read.

3. The colors to distinguish friend from foe. Hardcore would be a poo poo show with it like this. I haven't tried the color blind settings to see if this helps or not, but it certainly did on black ops 3. I can't tell you the number of times I've rounded a corner and unloaded on someone only to realize a second later that they're a teammate.

4. The overlays and menus (and the HUD in general) seem like they were designed by someone who learned photoshop last month. It just doesn't have the polish I would expect in those areas, even for a beta. Easily enough fixed, but I doubt it will be a priority.

5. Netcode. Lol. It's COD this will never change. It's just frustrating because the seemingly lower ttk combined with the change in infinity wards hit detection feels off to me. This is something I'll get used to.

Learning the nuanced differences of the movement system will help. Also it will help to find some trusted setups. So far I'm liking the feel of the erad and karma. The banshee slayed for me tonight too. None of the ars seem like they are remotely worth a poo poo at present. They were always so solid in other infinity ward games, so I'm a little surprised. The snipers im clueless how to use right now but that will come with time. The default one zooms too far in with the stock sight and the second one I just used in lmg mode. And the lmgs are kind of meh as well.

That was a ramble. I'll give it through the beta to see if I'm keeping the preorder. It's slowly growing on me.

It does change, and it changed for the worse starting with MW3, when they added lag "compensation", to lag prediction; a misguided attempt to reduce host advantage, that only served to completely gently caress the code for the next five years.

This feels like a genuine step back from Ghosts, to MW3- which was 80% unplayable garbage for me.

Someone did a quick video analysis to find out firetimes and the raw TTK is similar to BO3. It's gotta be the netcode.

Hmm. Yeah, I read that it was the same as black ops 3, but it doesn't feel that way. It must be the hit detection driving that.

If the TTK is similar to blops 3 then the netcode for this game is hosed beyond belief. They have to fix this at release.

Also is there any links to where I could find data about the shots required to kill and their range? Probably too soon to ask for it due to this being a beta and all.
