Agree on Vietnam 65 - I see it raved about, the concept is mega-cool, but I didn't think it was actually that fun to play. It was like a beefed up iOS game, I found it pretty shallow.

Vietnam 65 was pretty good so long as you had some music on or whatever to take away its sterility, imo. It was also very reasonably priced, so it's not like you're getting the same buyer's remorse as if you binned $120+ on it like buying one of the worse Combat Mission games and DLC.

How do you handle nuclear strikes in command to avoid things like fratricide and b-2s loitering around when they drop their bomb so they can get hosed up by the emp? Just a lot of micro?
|
# ? Oct 16, 2016 19:08 |
|
the loitering bit could be solved by using strike missions but yeah, micro. Ultimately what a SIOP plan would be an intricately plotted series of strike missions, tanker missions etc timed in such a way that you don't kill your own jets with icbms etc. Its not an 'easy problem' to solve generally, IRL loads of people would work on these plans.

CMANO 2 better have multiplayer.

Using strike missions doesn't seem to stop the loitering. The plane waits for a bomb to land on a target before moving onto its next.

hm yeah then thats definitely undesired behavior for nuclear strike mind posting your bug with a scenario example to the matrix tech support forums?

That Children of a Dead Earth game is fun as hell, though it currently plays more like a puzzle game than an operational sim. Maybe I haven't gotten far enough in. Is there ever anything like a solar system-wide sandbox campaign?

A campaign would be nice, at the moment it's more of a space battle sandbox with a bunch of mission-challenges than a fully fleshed out game.

There's an opening for the Soviet player in the ATG goon game. Let me know if you're interested. They're probably in the best position overall and are at relative peace compared to the rest of us all tearing each other apart.

Witp question for the thread... I just got B 29s in my game against the Japan AI and am beginning to base them in Saipan and Guam. How do I best use them to shut down Japanese production and air power? It currently seems like they have an infinite supply of replacement airframes and I would like to put a stop to that so I can get air superiority and put Downfall into action.

I believe against AI they get an infinite supply of airframes regardless of their industry. So just bomb stuff for victory points. Bombing manpower (i.e. firebombing) can be effective since it can start fires that run for many days.
