working mom posted:They changed it this year so that you have a maximum of 1 unique ship per match, no pirate ammo and previously have made everything more and more accessible price wise with rule changes. While its still an advantage to have AT ships and more money, with a tournament of players at this level it's expected that they'll have financial backing of some sort and if not then some coordinated poop-socking can make enough money to have a decent go at it and have a blingy flagship. Thunderdome. Each side gets an equal pile of mixed T1 ships and a can full of T1 modules. 60 seconds to fit up before the fight starts. Have tournament champions dying on a hill in a remote rep vexor sporting rails.

The AT is kinda dumb, the reality is that not many people care (like 10-12k viewers at any time on the stream), and the reward is just boondoggles that are only good for selling to rich players, and winning more ATs. To place well in an AT you really need to have about 1T in cash to play with, which basically means that only super serious (or rich and noskill) teams can compete. Seeing as the ever-increasing variety of AT ships means that having these available is very important, newer/not-rich alliances are basically excluded from the thing.

LemonDrizzle posted:The cruiser is another Etana - little more than a collector's item on TQ, but an amazing option for a tournament team because it allows you to circumvent bans. Based on half-assed eveHQ mockups, the frigate looks like it'll be a decent amount of fun. I thought the etana would be amazing on TQ if it was possible to ever replace, but never will because the value in future AT comps is so high. working mom posted:They changed it this year so that you have a maximum of 1 unique ship per match A couple years ago when the whole "most AT ships from previous years = most likely to win next AT" was starting to look like a bad trend, I had this idea: AT ships are normal price to field, but give the other team bonus points when killed. So it would be a double edged sword because the ships are super good, but risky because letting them be killed means you need to win by a substantial margin. Also it makes headhunting the AT ships a valid strategy rather than just a moral victory, plus more AT being exploded is always fun for spectators.

I don't doubt they were doing shady poo poo, they always came off as that as opposed to EVE-Bet/EOHPoker, I just don't think it was actual "lol we're making 120k USD a year off EVE ISK gambling" levels.

there is no feasible way to do it in large quantities, no one buys in large quantities and you can't trade in small quantities for long without getting caught, unless you strictly sell to friends and trustworthy people. that's why you only sell to friends

RMT prices put that 7T much lower, more like $50k at most. And the entire market for RMT isk is $10-20k per month so good luck.Orange Red Bull posted:ccp is never gonna talk about methods and practices i wish one of the permabanned elder rmt lords would talk about how it went down and quantities and things Some guy posted about it on kugu one time, but he was not selling directly. He was selling in bulk to a major multi-game RMT site. The thing is, major RMT sites stopped selling eve isk because CCP got too good at catching them. They couldn't operate because they had to pay for isk but couldn't keep inventory, it became impossible to make profit. Now everything is ebay or playerauctions, it's direct sale and from the outside looks pretty miserable.

most RMT probably happen in corp, which is the old goonfleet standard, aka keeping it all in-alliance giving someone in corp 5bil for a steamgame is nigh on impossible to differentiate from "i gave my friend in corp 5 bil cause i like him" unless some guy from a 0.0 russian renter is sending piles to a hisec mission runner, I doubt that it's easy to catch
