I picked this up last night (finally) and good Lord I haven't been this addicted since I was a kid on the first Harvest Moon. Should I dick around on my first playthrough and go for complete Min-Max the second time around, or is it not that hard the first time?

Dick around! There's no time limit and you can reset the game's 'ending', so do whatever and have fun. e: There is one missable: Sam has a heart event you can only see on Year One. I think it's the three heart one, and you see it in summer. Youtube it if you're past that though, it's not super important. StrixNebulosa fucked around with this message at 15:40 on Oct 17, 2016 |

It's really easy to feel pressured to do tons because you have options at first but seriously, just take things at your own pace and enjoy! Don't worry about going overboard just yet.

Just play it the way you feel like playing. For me this is a game where I wanna chill and build pretty farm things and I don't have any interest in going minmax but if you wanna do that then go hog wild. You really don't have to though.

I had everything planned out on the farm planners. Then my friends pointed at me and laughed. Since then I've let things flow much more organically. I ended up making a fruit orchard with a campfire in the middle with nice decorations. And since this is the riverlands map I started the "isle of fermentation" where I started my preservation jar and keg operation. That has since moved to some shacks but I still am fond of the idea and hum "Pure Imagination" when I walk past it.

But gently caress that, I love mining, and killing poo poo, and I want chickens. Can you actually be a wizard? I just met him for the first time, I think I'm 16 days in total. This game owns so hard. Such a breath of fresh air compared to No Man's Sky, I was so disappointed.

"Do nothing but make wine"? Good lord, no, that's boring. I fish a lot, and it may not be the world's most perfect minmax setup, but who cares! I like selling carp by the dozen! I'm saving up for a stable now that I have my axe upgraded enough to get more hardwood, and I don't feel deprived or bored because I'm having fun. Chickens are great, man. Fried eggs are great snacks for mining trips, mayo sells well, and they're just really cute. Makes sure you build a silo soon, though, so you can store a lot of hay!

Now that I have a metric fuckton of berries to keep my jelly and wine operation going I am considering selling my cows and goats in favor of pigs. Are they useless during the winter? Figured they would stay inside the whole time.

You can have void chickens and make spooky evil mayo. Or get lucky and find a dinosaur egg which hatches a dinosaur that clucks.

Dinosaurs are the best! They're adorable, they only lay one type of egg, and it sells for more than gold star mayonnaise. Or, since all the villagers inexplicably hate being given dinosaur eggs, throw them in the machine and make friends with mayonnaise!

What accessories work well for the dungeons? Seems like iridium band/burglar ring are the best combo. The vampire ring is nice, but is easily replaced by carrying a bit of extra food. And what's a good replacement for the burglar ring outside of combat?

Two iridium bands On my first playthrough I used the slime ring instead of the second Iridium band because immunity to slimes makes the skull cavern easier (the ring makes you immune to the slowing effect as well)

Lewis just sees your empty display stand and gets incredibly confused.

If it's basically another roll at loot, including iridium from purple slimes, how does a second iridium band outweigh that? The glow and magnetism stack, but one does the job. Another 10% dmg is nice, but with only a few swings per enemy that won't be decisive
