On the last page it was mentioned that it shows up in at least one other game I didn't know about. Kinda wish it'd show up again though. Special Tee Shot - Extra Course 3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMEardVfYwQ

Special Tee Shot - Extra 4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5a-Vwmfcis That leaves one more Special Tee Shot video and the Extra courses in Kirby's Dream Course, so now I just need someone to do the multiplayer with if I'm going to show that off.

I just kept putting against him and it seemed to have some effect but he wouldn't die, so I just thought he had a huge amount of HP. Took me a while before I figured it out, but once you do it isn't that hard.

However, it also is a illustrates why a minigolf boss fight doesn't work at all.

Exactly - I haven't played through the game yet on VC, but the boss fight just looks aggravating if you haven't figured it out and boringly trivial once you know what to do. Oh well, at least the rest of the game is neat.

Does the eighth hole actually require much skill or is it just a showy way to end the course? Some thought is required to work out how the final hole plays out. After that it's a matter of timing certain button presses - you don't need to move the Tornado or UFO, or even hit A, so it's not a big skill requirement. Oh well, at least the rest of the game is neat. The good news is you technically never need to bother with it - the game never saves after completing it (to my knowledge, that is. You unlock Extra Mode when you get the final gold medal, not when you beat Dedede.)

Special Tee Shot - Gold Course https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnQ7IJJyhWo I say in the video that your score on this course does not matter but I'm not 100% on that. The final screen actually flashes if you wait long enough but I don't know if that's due to my score? I can test it later I guess. Glad to be done with that game though. The final holes were a little annoying to work with.

I'm glad I never made it to the Extra courses in my childhood, I had enough problems with the main game. Course 1 looked easy enough, not that you could really make those layouts challenging, but even course 2 looked like it would have stumped me.

Carbon dioxide posted:Doesn't Dedede move slightly faster in extra mode? I tested this by entering both battles and timing how long it takes him to get to the green line: about 22 seconds in both battles. So unless he gets faster at low health in Extra mode, there's no difference between the two modes here.

Would you consider making a commentary video for the TAS of this game, once you've covered everything else you plan to do? Either going into minute detail about the strategy, or just saying "holy poo poo" every thirty seconds, I'm not picky.

Kirby's Dream Course TAS Blind Commentary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soR8mZlb4Pk Take note that the TAS is over an hour. If you're only interested in the highlights, see Course 3, Course 6, and Course 8. Overall a really great TAS and you should totally watch it with or without commentary. (The Extra Courses really feel like they're phoned in when you watch the TAS and see many of the same tricks out there for the second round.) The original TAS is found here: http://tasvideos.org/Game/snes-kirbys-dream-course.html I used SNES9X 1.51 to view it, I ran into desync with 1.54. And that will definitely conclude the Kirby's Dream Course/Special Tee Shot LP! Thanks to everyone who stuck around for it!

Also, according to the TASers notes: Yes. Soft-resetting during water bounces 'saves' the amount of bouncing in memory, which is how he did that trick after going into the Demo mode. This type of thing definitely isn't unheard of in old games of the era, and there's plenty of others that can do screwy things with memory allocation. (See the Pokemon Glitch Exhibition for examples of how ridiculous it can get)

Anyhow, that's really cool that the demo mode winds up being used for a trick. I wonder if you can use that in another hole...I suppose the TAS would have done it if you could, but still.
