Negan threw it up there, you could hear it land on the roof when he threw it. And then Rick had to go fetch it for him. Quality dog training there.

Pretty sure a variety of people have articulated fair and reasoned thoughts re: the depiction of Glenn's death and to have a troll come and attack that over and over is rather disheartening.

That episode saved the show from the direction it was heading over last season. They were starting to wimp out and almost give all the main characters plot armor or dumb changes. Here's hoping Carol snaps out of her pacifist funk and Morgan learns to kill again and I think we'll totally be back on the right track.

Agreed. I'm fairly sure that once Maggie learns of what happened to Abe, Glenn and (most importantly) her bestie Mr. Dixon then she will go full RoboCarol again. I don't mind a vacation in the pacifist/I'm-loving-tired-of- killing-everyone-that-crosses-my-path Carolland but I don't want to build a house there. Basically Carol and Morgan need to come to the same conclusion, that in this world there are legit awful people who need to die, but for Carol it can't be a first response to everything, and Morgan needs to learn that you have to act to stop these people otherwise good people will get hurt. They should have done this last season but if they do it this season it won't hurt the narrative.

Carol finding out Daryl is a hostage is all the reason she needs to snap out of her funk. Morgan...the way these two died just might be what he needs to push him away from "all life is precious." He's taken that small step with killing to save Carol.

Like, this is so much the last dying gasps of a show if I've ever seen it.

"I know, ill make an even more evil villain. With an army and black Jack and hookers. He's so evil he'll kill TWO beloved cast members. And we need to waste two whole episodes to show how evil he is."

YAWN. I told.my wife to go ahead and watch without me but come and get me after neegan gets killed by whoever either this season or after a shocking midseason almost successful attack they'll almost lose someone and call it off but then succeed next season.

Can't we just fast forward to the doods on horses riding in and killing neegan and his dumbness "army"with Rick grimes leading the charge instead of wasting 13 episodes on it? (I have not read the comics but I assume this is what happens)

Also, since they killed off two characters in the premier there's no suspense for the rest of the season. We know they won't kill anyone else in the main cast so the second they're in danger its like Tom cruise being shot at in his own movie who miraculously escapes.

The governor 2.0 sure had some nice speeches, maybe we'll get lucky and have other whole budget saving episodes where he lectures again for 45 minutes. Can't wait.

Dope makeup on Glenn though, that was amazing and really upset my wife.

I don't get the disgust some people are having at all. Weren't you watching when Dale died, or Noah? Yeah it was gross but it's what the show does. I guess Glenn is better liked than most people who have died in this show so far, but still, compared to some people he had a pretty quick easy death.

Anyway I thought the episode was good but I just know the next few episodes are just going to be a boring mess of dealing with Maggie's baby and whether she'll die or not, going on missions to get enough poo poo to give to Negan, Rick will come up with a plan to save Daryl, they'll talk about the plan for a few episodes, then near the finale they'll attack and either wipe them out easily like Carol did to the cannibals, or they'll get caught and some other group will come rescue them at the last moment before Rick/Coral/Daryl get killed. But oh poo poo, this new group turns out to be even more evil! Tune in next season to see them do something gross to your favorite characters.

I will confess,
I love this cultured hell that tests my youth.

People are upset about it for the reasons that people get upset about the things that happen in GoT: It's hard for some people to watch characters they've grown to like get brutally killed. What's more, Glenn's death was more exploitative and pointlessly cruel than some of the character deaths in Game of Thrones and that's a high water mark.

The deaths of Dale, Noah, Andrea, etc. weren't framed with an antagonist masochistic character taunting them while in front of their loved ones followed by shots of them muttering helplessly with their heads caved in.

It was more acceptable in the comic because the comic is far more hyperviolent and gory than the television show. I'm not clutching my pearls or anything but I can definitely understand why something like this is actually too much to some of the viewership. The strange posturing people are doing about the subject comes off as kinda odd to me.

The Glenn scene was when I stopped reading the comics. It wasn't simply because it was sad or brutal but because it didn't seem to have anything to offer BEYOND sadness or brutality. Kill off a character, introduce another badly drawn character that looks a bit like them, kill them off etc. It got stale.

I occasionally check out the comics and the post Negan stuff seems to have a bit more to offer so if the show can actually get there in a suitable timeframe this episode might not leave such a bad taste in people's mouths.

This show is like the opposite of GOT though. That story has a huge overarching plot and even if characters die suddenly their actions continue shaping the world even after their deaths. Walking Dead just feels like a group of purple trudging along and occasionally a piano falls on one of them.

I don't remember GoT ever killing someone with such graphic detail just for the hell of it? Most of the characters in GoT who die horribly get it over with pretty quickly?

I have never seen and have 0 interest in watching anything that would remind me of Saw, Hostel, or any other torture porn. Most of the violence in the show has been reserved for walkers up to recently. I think I'm done with TWD if that's the material they think they need to work from now. I realize the books are different but I like that the show has been different up to now.
