Got any deathsticks?

smuh posted:

Wooh boy, Toad Prince on NG+ Death March is straight up impossible for me. Some of his attacks go straight through quen and he has enough HP for the fight to take like 20 minutes it feels like. I manage to trap him for a bit with Yrden to get some good hits in but I can't keep dodging his attacks, hell I think one of them actually goes through the dodge invincibility frames to hit you which is something no other enemy has ever done. Wanted to get HoS done again before initiating the final main quest but no dice, just gotta finish the game for my sweet, sweet plat trophy and lower the difficulty if I want to try again.

Golden Oriole. If you have it, superior Golden Oriole. All his attacks are poisoned, so with this potion on you become invincible in that fight.

So I just finished my replay of the main quest in prep for the DLCs and not much to my surprise, I ended up going for roughly the same choices all over again. I felt like I was correct the first time around and wasn't going to be a wrong Geralt for any epilogues from Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.

The ending I got, the correct one, is still wonderfully handled and bitter sweet. The gentle hunt through the snow with Ciri acting all distracted, only to say farewell as she's being escorted off to her future. This is the correct ending, as you're supposed to be backing her as an independent woman throughout. Hiding that her real father wants to speak to her is deceptive at best. In the end she has all the facts and makes her own decision. Also, I know it's been discussed recently in the thread, but CD Projekt really know how to frame a scene - plenty of nice camera angles throughout the epilogue.

Onto the master of mirrors.

I get why - it's a more obvious happy ending. Geralt and Ciri stay together, go on adventures. It feels false to Geralt's world though. Having said that, I happily went for the falseness of shacking up with Yen but then she's hot.

I'm afraid so.
I never took Ciri to Vizima because it sounded like a long detour at a time when we were literally being hunted by interdimensional armageddon elves. I didn't realize that was my only chance to do so.

Did you see how Ciri can cut a fool by the end of the game? Not really sure anyone would think it's a good idea to start some poo poo with her.

(B&W spoiler) That ending sucks dick though because if Ciri shows up to your little vineyard at the end of B&W, she makes a reference to the King Charles Dance as 'papa' on accident and it really makes you feel like a real piece of poo poo loser

Why, she never EVER called you that. That's her dad, maybe that's her expected name for him or it's just the custom of royalty. She's been back in court for a while, and she still sorta has an affectation of speech now.

You come at the lady of space and time and empress of Nilfgaard, you best not miss.

But then again she kinda sucks poo poo at killing stuff anyways, as evidence by the B&W ending where she is talking to Geralt about how she had to let some bitch rear end lesser vampire bite her to get the upper hand and kill it.

Geralt can apparently ride all the way from Kaer Morhen in the Grey Mountains in the far north of Kaedwen down to Temeria's capital deep in the heart of the country, in three days. It also only took him a week to get from Velen to the Grey Mountains, along with a detour to Vizima when he is traveling back.

Lots of cards have effects that effect other cards. Like playing a card that gives +4 strength to one friendly unit or a card that does -2 strength to one enemy unit. There are a ton that do various things. It's been very much reworked from W3 Gwent while keeping the main gameplay idea intact. You just can't steamroll everybody with a ton of spies and gold cards this time.

To me, the most important change was the fact that you draw more cards at the end of every round. New cards and a general rebalancing was expected, but this was a major change to the way the game is played.

Do you feel it, Zach?
My coffee warned me about it.

I played the Gwent beta and I have mixed feelings about it. Probably because I played so much Gwent in TW3 that I felt like I'm playing the same game but without the possibility of quitting and jumping on my horse when I get tired of it. Yeah, there are some changes to the game but the gameplay flow is very much the same while the game still lacks depth to really get into it. I know that CDPR will continue to develop/modify it though and I'll be definitely checking it out from time to time to see if I can get hooked yet.

Gwent talk: I loving hate the whole "reduce other unit's damage!" thing, especially the card that does it to a full row. It's like a worse scorch that you can't do anything about.
