SpaceCurtisLeMay posted:Read someone on the SC thread on the Frontier forums who said the only time you maintain two separate code branches is when you have an already released legacy product along side a new and improved product and I guess Elite qualifies as that. They still make updates, like passenger missions, for the people who own just the legacy 1.0 game plus the fighters, etc. for those with horizons. I guess that makes a certain amount of sense. Problem with Star Citizen is they don't have a released branch unless the SC fans want to claim what they have now is an actual product and not some phantom stage of development. Look, keeping two or more code branches will allow CIG to release 3.0 in 2016 even if 2.6 is still not done. They may even release 3.2 before 3.1!

Well yeah of course Braben would be dumb like that. While they are working on incremental improvements 1.1/2.1, 1.2/2.2, 1.3/2.3 and so on Crobblers plans long term. Every x.0 release he throws everything in the garbage to be refactored. This is how they can work on 2.6 and 3.0 simultaneously and have nothing to show until the next milestone of 3.2/4.0 on the horizon.

It's kinda funny that they could've pushed out patches every month that did literally nothing and said "bug fixes and performance improvement" and the Shitizens would've swallowed it whole, except they never bothered to fix their patcher so keeping up that particular lie would have cost them an absurd amount. They're too stupid to even scam effectively, yet people keep throwing money at them.

Cig was thinking citizens were excited to explore space in a miner, citizens were dreaming of escaping to space with a minor. Just a simple misunderstanding. The next Drake ship sale will surely clear up that confusion.

TheAgent posted:gently caress this goddamn company, the people who defend it and anyone that supports it The Fuzzy Modem stuff isn't even a shock, seriously, hands up who is even surprised. Look at these guys, grown loving adults dressing up as Bunny Rabbits with big floppy ears, dick pics sent to staff at CIG and covered up, death threats sent to Streetroller (which he handled with grace and style), Ben Lesnick's depressing and embarrassing website which wasn't taken down when it came to light and a bunch of retards shilling it everywhere relentlessly. I sat down last night to transcribe a 10FTC in which Chris Roberts (liar) talks about Squadron 42. You know what, I actually started to feel sick and turned it off. The reason that the Fuzzy Modem stuff is relevant to Star Citizen is because it isn't a loving surprise to any of us on here who have followed or engaged with their sick community.

It's not harmless is it, these are damaged individuals supporting a scam company. What the gently caress has Star Citizen actually got to do with videogames anyway? There should be a special section of the internet dedicated to it, locked away behind a $25,000 paywall and a picture of an 11 year old anime character. It's got gently caress all to do with gaming, and anyone defending it has got gently caress all to do with the rational, adult world.

My belief is that aside from the 0-40 dollar punters who are going to lose out and move on, the heavily (not to mention vocally) invested are in four categories: The paid shills, the grey market profiteers, the willfully ignorant and the mentally unwell. I do feel compassion for the latter. Put the rest in a large sack and beat it with sticks.

It's a rather dark turn, and I'd like to think that everyone involved with both the game and in the community will stop and take a loving hard look at themselves and what they're involved in. The public perception of this project in 2016 is very, very bad. I hope that Chris and Erin Roberts (liars) can now see loud and clear the type of people who are paying their wages and shilling their game.

Lowtax just made a new announcement.quote:Hello, it is me, Rich "Lowtax" Kyanka and I'm here to talk parp with you: VIRTUAL SPACESHIPS! In the spirit of Star Citizen, KING OF INTERNET FUNDRAISING, we will soon be launching our own KickParper, which will track the donations, progress to goals, stretch goals, and reward tiers for backers. The VIRTUAL DIGITAL JPG SPACESHIPS SHALL BE ENTERING THE FORUMS SOON! Everybody who has donated will get a digital jpg online spaceship, although due to demand I can only draw unique ones for donations that total over $25. This is to ensure I don't get carpel tunnel syndrome and ruin my aspiring career as a professional handjob provider. All donations under $25 will still get digital jpg spaceships, but they'll all be the same one. Also donations given during the drive will stack, so if one day you donate $20, and then tomorrow you think, "you know what? Maybe I should've donated $19,980," great news! You still can! Then you'll hit the $20,000 backer tier and oh boy, you'll sure be happy as poo poo you decided to wastespend your money on an internet web forum!
