I mean, I've also run into a half dozen guys who just absolutely completely outclassed me so far, but dear god is losing games to bad players who get lucky playing lovely park the bus + counter attack poo poo just killing me. e: Went on a 4 game win streak to start the day today and have lost 3 or 4 in a row since then and aghhh.

It's not even the counter attacking part of counter attacking that is the main issue. It's the fact that their entire line and CDM are always in perfect position under that tactic. I said earlier it's zero risk huge reward. Giving up space for build up play doesn't matter this year when your defense will stop any run and block any shot. Most goals in this edition come from exploiting a defender out of place instead of dribbling or playing smart passes like previous years. With counter attack the defenders are never out of place. Also even heading is becoming more difficult. Normally people use full backs to build up play offensively but more and more people have them set to stay back and on counter attack which means it's becoming increasingly harder to swing in a cross as full backs are always right on your wingersand defenders deflect nearly everything. e- I have no regrets using my gimmicky 5 atb because it confuses people and absolutely shits on counter attacks Seltzer fucked around with this message at 18:59 on Oct 23, 2016 |

Yeah the weekend league is meh and frustrating, on PC it's only 25 matches and I have 8 left and I'm already completely fed up with it. Can't imagine needing to play 20 matches just to get the rewards. EA are mental, it should be 25 matches for all platforms.

I play a tit for tat rule, like those prisoner's dilemma programs. I know that it's not remotely close at all in terms of gameplay but I noticed that even against the AI, having full backs to always overlap is a big risk on World Class or more. I'm playing a 4-3-2-1 (the like of 2 are a RF/LF) and the only issue is the fullback line. I'm playing my manager with Dortmund and Italy as national team and with Italy I play a 5-2-2-1 being an absolute brick wall. On previous games, having full backs that were good at attacking was recommended while on 17 they better be good at defending or you'll get hosed. This applies to H2H too on my little experience.

This is an aside but I'm 8-3 in the weekend league at the moment. Is it me or does the Silver 3 rewards (what I'll get) look better than Silver 2? 10,000 coins, 1 x Premium Gold Players pack, 2 x Jumbo Premium Gold packs vs 15,000 coins, 1 x Mega pack, 1 x Rare Gold pack. I think the "worse" reward looks better Imo. I'll probably stop at 8 wins.

As a side effect, this is probably the best possible time to play draft, even if you aren't planning on cheating, because as soon as any cheater gets up a goal on you they will quit and you won't get a loss either, and there's no possible way EA can punish you for just playing the game and having someone use a glitch against you. I just don't get the point of using a glitch. Like, did people not learn when they were 12 that using a Game Genie takes all the fun out of the game? What's the point in getting free wins and l33t coins if you get no accomplishment whatsoever out of it? It's just a grind at that point. I want to actually play and get better at the game.

Yeah weird I use my W/L as a tracker of how good I'm actually getting, I don't want it hosed up with like my connections dropping but I also don't want it hosed up with free wins either I always used to tell people in League of Legends also, they would get mad and be like "oh I got to plat 1 but I'm really diamond it's my team holding me back" and I would tell them like well you're going to get to your true elo and then start going up and down around it based on luck so actually your real elo is probably a couple divisions lower than the highest one you ever get so you're worse than the one you even got I'm real popular why do you ask Stefan Prodan fucked around with this message at 01:00 on Oct 25, 2016 |

Did anyone try Lacazette? His stats are so similar to Menez barring a few exceptions (strength, mostly) that I really wonder if he's worth 65k compared to Menez going for 1k. Man I just can't get past division 3 this year yet. I'm averaging conceding 1.25 goals a game which is okay I guess but I'm scoring 1.5 a game  My record's down to like 78-60-66. Sooo many 1-1 and 0-0 draws. I can't even like figure out what to do from my opponents because I feel like the only things I concede are like either I made some huge dumb mistake on defense, or a long shot, or a header. Nobody's doing any real good passing/dribbling goals for me to emulate, but I know they're possible because the usual twitch suspects are still doing fine. I'm just poo poo!

Screw around with the custom tactics, it makes a lot of difference this year. I can post mine when I'm back home later. I also find that having a tough as nails midfield that can put significant pressure on the ball movers does a hell of a difference particularly if you don't like to sit back and play count attacking, I play Matuidi and Dabo and just constantly harass the ball movers. Not that my record is anything amazing, it's about 50% wins, Div 1. Also get Menez, Martial and Ben Arfa cause those guys are sick.

I've played a lot of FIFA the last 10 years. I feel like I am really struggling this year. 1) My guys make a lot fewer runs, and mostly just hanging around the border to the last 1/3. 2) My 85+ pace guys gets caught by 60 pace defenders all the time, even in full sprint with a long touch of the ball. I'm not going full pace squad, but it just seems a bit ridiculous. 3) The defenders are way too good. They vacuum the ball away from attackers way to easy. They just run full speed into the player and magically gets the ball. 4) Fouls are very rarely called unless the opponent does a sliding tackle. No point in having FK specialists, since you only get to use them once in every 8'th matches. 5) Some opponents use a very weird high pressure tactic where their guys are right on top of me all the time. Whenever i passed the ball they would insta-tackle me and get the ball. Very very rarely did they miss a tackle. Seemed like the bug last year where you could press two buttons, and your guy would auto-hunt and tackle the ballcarrier. Only played like 5-8 matches of these, but they were absolutely impossible to play against. I tried using high pressure myself, but nothing i tried came close to my opponents tactics. I get it that I probably have to change my playing style, but the game seems very weird to me this year, and I have trouble coping

Even good players don't know what to do with silvers and build poor teams. Also, try this one cool defensive trick EA don't want you to know about : manually switch control to one of your attackers and hold R1, observe as your team maintains perfect shape and wins possession back without you having to do anything. I was skeptical at first as well but it works more often than not!

rofl do you still play in pro camera? Also today I played 5 games and 3 of them I won 4-0, 6-2, and 5-0 so maybe all I needed to do was complain I've started doing one of my old methods which seems to work well where you like signal one of your midfielders or your CDM to start a run, but you never plan to actually pass it to him, you start a chain of passes from there and you try to get another guy to start a run off a 1-2 such that he basically hits the defensive line right as or a tiny bit after the first guy gets there, so the defense has stretched to cover the other guy and the gap is much better than usual It's obviously a little bit risky since you're bringing someone up but as long as you're careful I think it's real good Like maybe you start the play by having your RM go on a run, then you pass it to your CAM, then your left striker, then your left striker does a 1-2 off the CAM or the right striker, and then hopefully if you timed it right he'll hit the hole when the defense is stretching to cover the other guy

IF Modeste is a better Diego Costa for only 18k. Really solid buy. When talking him up earlier I forgot to mention he has the finesse shot trait which is make or break for players finishing finesse shots this year imo. Last year it didn't matter cause everyone could hit them, this year you need the trait or a poo poo ton of curve. It's the safest way to finish a 1 on 1 if your striker has the trait. I also got IF Florenzi because I like my 5atb team a lot and he's made for the wingback position. Since he can play literally anywhere on the pitch he's going to serve as my super sub from now on in every squad as well. This week IF Keita looks crazy and will probably bump Goretzka out of my Bundesliga squad. Kalinic is the sleeper pick of the lot though. 96 positioning with 91 finishing is crazy for a card that will be basically discard. Put engine on him and he'll be really good. Does anyone have a halloween card/thinking about getting one? I'm going to wait til after the event is over to buy any of the cards I want. I'm hoping it will be a rise and then big decline. I might get screwed by waiting though.
