Which does leave room for the show creators to pull something crazy off. I think this is a good question in regards to the hosts that hang out in town and part of their loop is just to wait for someone to engage with. Are their brains actively engaged in what's going on around them like a human might be, thinking about things that are going on around them in relation to their own wants and needs or their backstory as much as they are allowed to think about those things or are they just blank spaces waiting for input? I think the more I think about this show, the more I realize it isn't so much the show that fascinates me as the ideas around the show. I like the storylines fine and the characters are interesting but logistical questions about how the park runs and how the AI work is a good bit of the draw.

For a second, I thought Teddy had a new host sidekick in that female guest because they had just told him he was getting a new backstory and then she showed up. Yes, the show intentionally keeps some characters' natures hidden for awhile to gently caress with us. Teddy was introduced as a guest, but he was a host. They never lied and said "you're a guest, Teddy!" but they left it ambiguous and steered us towards assuming the wrong answer. tadashi posted:I think this is a good question in regards to the hosts that hang out in town and part of their loop is just to wait for someone to engage with. As far as the park is concerned they don't "think" at all, but their programming is constantly processing their environment to see if there's guests that need help or quests. But Dolores' is obviously being presented to us as someone who is constantly thinking about her situation. plainswalker75 posted:To be fair, they have called out Bioshock as a major source of inspiration for the show, so it wouldn't necessarily be full to suggest that MiB was a super-advanced robot Arnold made and sent away to return at a specific time for some reason. My new theory: the man in black is Arnold's brother. He's been coming ever since the accident to find out what happened, and he's finally on the right track. That's how he knows about Arnold. Oh and that last meeting between Dolores and Bernard was a dream. The cool opening shot where B is reflected in her eye gives it away.

At least the map let's us wonder where some things are happening. We know the earthmover is about to plow into the Agave Plantation, and I think it could be related or close to the site Robert Ford was showing to Bernie, with the buried steeple. From the little blurb about Python Pass suggests it's where Elsie and Stubbs find the stray with the killer headache. If you ignore the points and just look at the river network, it does look like an upside down Orion. Didn't someone mention that the constellations would look upside down from someone on the southern hemisphere? (please forgive the crudity of my map) edit: Hmm, this link suggests it should be upside down and backwards: http://www.ngawhetu.com/Resources/TheRhythmicSky/index16.html Caufman fucked around with this message at 20:33 on Oct 27, 2016 |

Do they have little tunnels everywhere that can be opened up or what? They do. They have elevators from a sublevel that leads to the park surface. And according to the website, hosts that die in normal circumstances are carried by undertaker hosts to their grave, which also leads them to the sublevel for cleaning and resurrection.

While the map theory might be wrong, I do think it's going down the wrong path to continue thinking it's Orion when a character in the show explicitly said "it's not Orion" in response to another character's Orion theory.

I imagine HBO have thought it through pretty thoroughly, we've yet to see any godlike weather control devices. I'd think it's more likely located in a post-global warming Antarctica or something rather than Australia. Whole lot of empty land down there.
