It's annoying that there's not much hardware for it yet, but it does mean basically one less cable for every device once it catches on more. I'm glad this is happening. I currently have a set up where I have to plug in a USB wire for my monitor's built in USB hub, the displayport wire itself, and a magsafe connector to charge the laptop. It'd be nice just to use one wire.

Don Lapre posted:Both of these loving macbook pros are still on DDR3 memory, for how much cash!? 16gb max, looool Seriously? I'm on a mid 2012 MacBook Pro Retina, and my biggest reason to consider upgrading would be more RAM. Looks like I could go from 750G SSD to 1TB SSD. CPU would be faster, I guess. That's nice. No more RAM capacity = eh, gently caress it. I just use this thing as a desktop, so I don't care if it's thinner or whatever. It was the most powerful thing I could reasonably get from Apple at the time, and I'm not sure there's a desktop model that's much of an improvement either. What have they been doing for four years, aside from removing hardware and flattening the UI everywhere?

Looks like the 15"s do have integrated graphics in addition to the Radeon Pro dGPU, but it's only the HD 530 (not Iris) which I believe is worse than the Iris Pro in the previous gen 15"s.
