ManlyGrunting posted:Which seems like a silly thing for the creatprs to be antsy about being criticized for, since the entire point of the comic is "how do superpowers help make the world a better place". They absolutely have to have these powers thought out well as well as their reprecussions because that's what the goddamn comic is about, and if it's poorly defined or explained then it comes across as sloppy writing. It's one thing to nitpick, it's another to point out when the entire premise of the work is being undermined. The idea is that there are no magic answers and we have to work within this extraordinary but still limited framework, and you're going to give us a magic solution? gently caress that noise. And that is why the best way to end this whole chapter is to have Max and Feral whisked away by the conspiracy and for all this to be an elaborate plot by Patrick to smoke out anyone who could be connected to this whole sub-plot that has been ignored for years.

That would be a good twist. Too bad the author is not that clever. Also this ending made me think why the gently caress doesn't Wolverine become an organ donor? Then I realized Wolverine doesn't give a poo poo.

One of the things that drew me to the comic originally was the idea that super powers wouldn't really change the world that much. No matter how angry or frustrated Allison got with the world she couldn't just punch away serious problems. That it's turned out that she can just physically threaten people into being good and change the world with violence is really disappointing.

So what if she did all this to bang Feral would that make it better or worse in the grand scheme of all of the Akira mutation fan fiction in this thread?

Seems the comment section got to much for the artist to moderate so she threw up her hands over the whole thing. I always thought it was a bit unfair that she got stuck with the job when the big faults with the comic are on the writer's end. But now all the comments complaining about the series won't be deleted so it should be interesting to see how readers react without the censorship.

Welp, all right. Looks like there are no unintended consequences at all. After spending several chapters learning she can't just punch problems in the face, she removed a significant fraction of suffering from the world by punching the problem in the face.

This chapter did attempt to foreshadow that someone with Allison's level of power and idealism would be strongly disposed to tyranny in the name of altruism. It was just so god damned vague on any of the specifics of her "downfall" that the execution was completely botched, and the glacial pacing and general sanctimony of the comic is getting on everyone's nerves.

or if it becomes about a war where all female superheroes battle for the title of "strong female protagonist" and the prize, a blushing virgin clevin. but they all end up killing each other fighting to be the strongest, and the moral is that there can't just be one super-strong woman but a network of moderately strong women supporting each other. so it shouldn't be "strong female protagonist" but "strong female protagonists" and in the end clevin bursts into flames and is reborn like a phoenix. there i just wrote a more nuanced and meaningful narrative than this loving comic

I guess they could have it discovered that Max's pixie dust wears off after a while, and Allison has the realization that she'll have to force Max repeatedly to juice up Feral to keep her solution going, but even that seems improbable. I just don't even know where this comic is going anymore.
