Alright, we tried again at her request and we made little to no progress. We tried with fingers, and we achieved moderate success. I told her not to worry, that vaginal penetration isn't the be-all, end-all of sex life. So we spent the rest of the night doing other stuff. She tells me she enjoys all of the other stuff we do together, but she still wants to try vaginal sex for the first time. She wants to try again on Monday, even. I told her that I'd rather she saw a gynecologist, and she agreed, which makes me happy, so we'll see if she can set an appointment for next week - I know she'll be a little annoyed if she can't get an appointment till halfway through November but I am doing my best to support her. I'm really concerned about a membrane-like ring I felt was constricting my fingers as I went further on with my fingers, and contact with it seemed to be the cause of her pain. I suppose it's the hymen? Or at least bone? No idea.

AFAIK it should be a fairly distinct passage until you hit the cervix, and you shouldn't be able to hit the cervix unless you're jamming your whole fist up in there. So if you're encountering a resistant membrane that's probably the hymen and she may have a particularly stubborn one which will be very uncomfortable for her.

I would say if you're having a really lovely time of life currently then yes you're probably not going to want to gently caress a lot. Stress is a pretty major depressant for the sex drive. And if you're worried about it that's going to make it worse too.

It's not exactly normal/ideal to think you have total erectile dysfunction at the advanced age of 28, no. If you jerk it often, stop doing that when the prospect of a hookup appears on the horizon. If you jerk it rarely or not at all, check in with a doctor.

I had similar symptoms at that age. Turned out my thyroid up and quit on me. Stress and poor self image can be big depressants on the sex drive, but if you haven't had a physical in the last few years consider going to get a check up.

It's a vicious cycle of life stress gives you performance anxiety, which makes it harder to get aroused, which in turn adds extra stress and anxiety, etc, etc. I've gone through your situation a couple times, and the good news is it's always come back for me pretty quickly. Not jerking it for a couple days also helps.
