max had a big talk with boss leader about maybe helping day, which she probably conveyed to day during a dream. also when the kids are all "who is she" max knows a bunch of stuff probably from talking to her

It's also not like anybody ever used the word "friend" to coyly refer to a mere acquaintance. Or perhaps assumed that Spender would have formally introduced his half pint lackeys to Zarei (which he didn't, so it's quite likely the "mutual friend" line will go completely over Zarei's head, but from Day's perspective it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume she must know Max via Spender).

I went back and re-read some of this chapter. Oh god it flows so much better archival-y. And I forgot some things altogether. such as Hijack has a house and likes Wii Sports. And Hijack is totally in the Principal.

Yep, them being a cat and a dog is really cute, and also almost as potentially ominous as Day having the flower/flytrap theme/spirit while Zarei's got the bug thing going on. (I am very worried that Day is bad news and this is not going to end well for Zarei.)
