One of our ships takes a bomb hit. I can't wait to be able to respond. Looks like the Milne bay ships ran for it – the ones who were left anyway! I call Captain Kurita into my office. I explain to him that we need to know the threat level at Nomau. He has been given the opportunity by the Emperor himself to scout the area to see what air defences they have ahead of a general attack. I wish him luck. Well, that was a month. In my last game, this was the month where I, the Allies started to pull things back. While I didn't retake many bases, I took back some high value ones. Back to this game, air losses were heavier this month due to increased enemy activity. And a few stupid blips. Its not been a good month for allied forces, losses have been high at 664 points – most of which were packed into sunk ships. While I lost four ships this month, I've sunk, or confirmed sunk, thirty six Allied vessels! That's 542 points worth – over a carriers worth!

Could be a war-changing decision - in real life Takao Kurita ended up as commander of the Yamato-led battleship force that attacked Taffy 3 in the Battle of Leyte Gulf and was famously driven off by CVEs and a couple destroyers. If he had died earlier in the war and someone else was in command of the Central Force at San Bernardino Straight, imagine how differently the battle for the Philippines could have gone!

Grey, for the love of God. You have four lines in here, and you want to compare first the nations and then AI/human factor with other lines, right? So your first choice is to group them so that the comparison is instinctive. For example, here's one possible scheme: - Blue solid - Your Japanese points - Blue dotted - AI Japanese points Vs. - Red solid - Your Allied points - Red dotted - AI Allied pts There - color differentiates the faction and style whether it's human or AI. Or if you for some reason have to use solid lines, then maybe: Dark blue - your Japanese Light blue - AI Japanese vs Dark red - Your Allied Light red - AI allied Now the difference is not the shape, but hue. And keep them in the same order in legend as well!

Grey defiantly doesn't pay much attention to the thread complaining about typos and graphs. Really, almost unreadable graphs are a vital part of the experience.

Well, I tried to fix it in Paint, and got as far as the labeling, but the paintbucket tool won't work to change line colors because these are JPEGs and therefore loaded with compression artifacts instead of nice clean non-lossy-compression PNGs. So I just bodged it by drawing over the line, which looks ugly as gently caress but anyway here: It isn't necessarily required to put the labels next to the lines, but it helps. I fixed the labels so they used the same ordering of words (AI Allied instead of Allied AI) and used a lighter color of the main one for each AI line.

Jaramin posted:What kind of shameful grogmap graph nerd doesn't represent Japan with red I would have had to draw over all four lines to do that. Also, Red/Green colorblindness is the most common, so I avoid using both in any graphic. If I did use red, I'd probably take out the green and use blue instead, but then I'd be changing a blue line to red just to change a red line to blue, which you know gently caress it, this works?

Well that too. Honestly I forgot about that, I don't do as much data visualization - one of the other guys on my team is better at it. Also I would have used a dashed line or something, rather than a lighter color, because a lighter color might not have enough contrast with the background to meet various accessibility requirements; but drawing a dashed line on top of the solid one in Paint would have been an even uglier mess.

Grey, a thought: Why not switch your records to a shared Google sheet or something like that? It would only take a few minutes and then the thread can make its own graphs instead of bitching about yours. Harness the power of your audience!

Graphs are fine but you are all suggesting Wrong Changes anyway Onstead of making Japan hues of say red and the Allies hues of say blue, make GAME 1 deep and light blue (deep for Alloes), and GAME 2 in red (deep for Japan) Then it's clearer for comparison

Its a small mercy but a number of those B17s will be written off as operational losses, keep damaging them and they will be written off. They also have high service ratings so with such sustained raids, there are probably just as many b17s being maintained than actually bombing you! Also why are you still using nates?

Have a great month. Get bitched at because of graphs. I'll have a go at sticking the data onto google docs at some point in the next few days - its on open office atm, and that seems to not want to let me change colours of lines. I really don't think that its a big thing myself, but if people feel so strongly, then I'm okay to let someone sort it.
