The holiday being referenced is Korean Thanksgiving, which usually kills three days out of a single work week. So yes, it's really important to finish as much as possible before it starts.

I'm choosing to interpret this as a happy ending since it implies Mister Kang has intrinsic professional value at his workplace.

Gee my psych classes must have been useless! We didn't learn about "healthy relationships" at all. All we learned in my first year were unimportant boring things like the scientific method, statistical analysis and report writing, referencing, psych history, ethics and some basic biology of the brain.

No, that started after I left (although I am coming back). Didn't even know about it until you mentioned it. Domestically tvN was really pushing the latest in food porn.

This should not be the koreachat thread, but ugh, my favored topics of conversation are just too esoteric for the actual dedicated threads. It's not even their fault- I'd love to post more about Korean films but distribution is so bad outside of the festival circuit all I'd be doing is taunting people.

I'm beginning to wonder whether Evans even remembers college at this point. Well really, nobody does, but it's like he's reading cliff notes from the first season of Community and somehow confusing Britta for a professor.

I'm really just wondering what he studied, because for the most part we've gotten compelling evidence that it's none of the subjects his characters are learning. His having previously been an art teacher suggests... well, art, but even then I'm skeptical.

Social Welfare History Project posted:

This Mothers’ Pension Movement — cash payments to widows with young children to enable them to care for their children in their own homes, and sometimes called widow’s pensions, mother’s aid and mother’s allowances and in our own day aid to dependent children – was part of the Progressive era in its awareness of the environmental origin of poverty and the necessity for State intervention to insure social and economic justice. It also had roots in the organized social insurance movement, which embodied the principle of public income guarantees. The Mothers’ Pension Movement emerged simultaneously with the Bureau of Public Welfare (B.P.W.) idea, which as noted earlier, attempted to discredit the philosophic division of labor proposed by voluntary agencies and redefined the governmental welfare function in an industrial urban society.

I don’t understand why he refuses to spice up the action and make it true 2016. We have an adult comic strip. Why can’t Bernice follow her heart and hook up with a nice young lady? Why can’t Gunther meet a nice boy and settle down? Fix up LuAnn with a massive African American dreamboatnis. To me, an obvious pairing is Ox and Gunther. Have them discover each other.

The food dye is one of several heritage bottles of food dye that was left to her by her mother who got them from a dumpster. The color was discontinued because it was a carcinogen. An "if those brats want green frosting so much I'll give them their damned green frosting" sort of thing.

There's no proof of this of course. But I'd imagine Ellie's mom hated her as much as Ellie hates her kids.
