Cisneros came out rocking an epic beard and hair combo and some stoned out dude next to me exclaimed "he's like Jesus or something," and I'd have to agree. That was a great loving show

Sounds like they're competing to see who can hit their instruments the hardest, and everyone is somehow winning. Also, exactly what I'd expect from someone on the internet calling themself "Weaponized Cum". Thanks!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dW_MlPRy5M New 11PARANOIAS album dropped and it is p. huge. Also the LP comes with 3 coloured bits of plastic that change the album art depending on which you look through, so you have something to zone out on while you are listening. 3 album covers in one! I enjoy gimmicks like this a lot.

It was pretty amazing. I tried talking to my friend by putting my face maybe an inch from his ear and he still couldn't hear me. boxcarhobo fucked around with this message at 14:31 on Nov 2, 2016 |

Earth was louder than Sleep IMO. Don't know if that helps with calibrating your loudness-o-meter.

Dyna Soar posted:I like Sleep but I think the current volume war trend with doom bands is very gimmicky. I wouldn't call it "current". Doom bands are just generally loud, it's part of the genre and has been probably since Black Sabbath. To name four of the loudest bands I've seen, Sleep have been doing their thing since 1990, Earth since '93, Yob since '96 and Sunn O))) since '98. But they've all experimented and progressed their sound and style during that time. For Sunn O))) in particular, I guess sheer volume is indeed their gimmick if you want to look at it that way, but I think it would be a bit of an unfair minimisation of what they do.

Also the volume war has been going on for like 20 years across every genre of recorded music

Sleep is loud because they're both tonewhores and just absolutely need four different cabs running cranked amps. And that's cool.
