No one's denying that Hillary's lost momentum, but the odds that his model gives her right now just don't make sense when you think about it. Hillary's firewall is still there, and we're only four days out from the election. I'd say her actual chances of winning should be extremely high, or at least better than the roughly 65% he's giving. I know he's taking uncertainty and the possibility of polling error into account, but it still seems ridiculous for her numbers to be that low. His model doesn't even factor in that the early vote in Nevada appears to be going well for her. She may have already won the state, in which case the event of New Hampshire flipping to Trump doesn't matter.

Yeah, I feel early voting may be a factor that many polls might be underestimating. Early voting is such a staple now that it could be something not being weighted as much as it should be. Who knows. I'm no statistician so I don't have any real strong argument for that, but it seems this year it is a huge factor that might be difficult to apply to current polling models.

Speaking of incremental change, and I know we had a big thing about Zizek a while back and I hate to bring him up again, but one of his lectures made me way more comfortable with supporting Hillary Clinton when Bernie lost the primary:

I start the video at 36:30, but you could probably go back about 5 minutes to get a little more background. He's so all over the place it's hard to find a good place to start:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCePcSouBOc&t=2190s

The gist of it is that big changes are easy to ignore. Nobody in power is really scared of truly revolutionary ideas because they're so easy to shut down.
What scares them is the little changes.

We've talked about it in other discussions, how Don't Ask Don't Tell was a terrible policy by contemporary standards, but it set things in motion that made future reforms easier. You move away from the active hunting of homosexuals, to grudging tolerance (as long as they keep it sorta secret), and after a decade gays haven't destroyed the military, it's so easy to just say "Look, they're already here, we know they're already here, let's just end the charade."
It's lovely, I can definitely appreciate the argument that we should have done it in 1994, but it was a difficult to do even in 2011 when I know that even in the mid 2000's it seemed uncontroversial to me.

In Arizona, we're passing a marijuana legalization bill that's got big flaws. There are a lot of people who are against it because it gives too much power to groups that already have a head start in the business while shutting out smaller groups. But even if it's terribly flawed, it starts doing little things. There's a whole industry based around illegal marijuana. The County Attorney's office has gotten millions of dollars in diversion programs from referring people to TASC, a private drug treatment company (They kick back $650 to the county for every patient they process). The imperfect bill destroys this little cycle of corruption, and that makes them less financially able to promote other awful stuff.

I've seen how incremental change has been destructive in the other direction. Charter schools seem like such a small thing, they're just little experimental schools, who could be angry about that. And then you see the industry that builds up around it and suffocates public education.

The other half is that because these changes are so small, you don't get the same reactionary response. By the time people realize that things are accelerating, there's already momentum.

I think it had something to do with a little bit of shame at ones own sexuality and this being a dissociative way to indulge in it.

Maybe if we had a sense of that, we could respond to people. Also, lol at the notion that American black people who aren't descended from slaves do not in some way feel the negative repercussions that derive from that. For 25 years, Congressman John Conyers Jr. has marked every session of Congress by introducing a bill calling for a study of slavery and its lingering effects as well as recommendations for “appropriate remedies.” Gee, I wonder why that hasn't passed?

But since we don't have a sense of what's going on, reparations are therefore bad?

You're not as far left as you think you are.

The far left believes all religion is oppression ('kill the Christians!'), while the far right believes all religions except the one they follow is oppression ('kill the Muslims!').

Both are oppressive philosophies completely abhorrent to centrists, which Clinton definitely is. She's the best kind of centrist because she listens and aims for compromise. You can call that incrementalism, triangulation, or whatever makes you feel better, but she's definitely not a far leftist.

US presidents are selected, not elected. We do this to promote stability through balanced compromise. We'd like other countries to emulate that system as much as possible because it will result in a lot less people getting killed. Radical and drastic change pisses people off, and it's a sure way to lose your party elections if you pursue that route.

Anyone who thinks Clinton is some closet progressive socialist really needs to get red pilled. We want the real far left out of the Democratic party, and once they realize they don't have a seat at the table, they'll leave anyway.

Well as a white dude I can look back and say that not supporting affirmative action didn't make me human scum, I was just ignorant about the situation because the particular barriers that black people face were wholly outside my experience.

But then I learn about those issues that I couldn't see, I see studies where a black sounding name results in fewer callbacks and lower grades for identical resumes and essays, and I start to realize that just the unconscious expectations that black people will have lower achievement affects their treatment and their opportunities.

And then I realize hey, all this was in front of me all the time, black people were getting into college and getting jobs at lower rates than white people all along, and just assuming that must be a fair result of their substandard ability and not unfair barriers was actually p racist on my part.

Does that mean I was human scum? Idk ymmv on that but my feelings are irrelevant, what matters is reality, not whether my feelers were hurt when I had to admit to myself that I was wrong about something once.

It's not just games or comics. Any media format can apply. The problem with these kinds of discussions with sex is discerning sexism from plain old hedonism. For some, sexism is abusive, for others it's going to be anything inequal.

For example Prince sang a bunch of songs about wanting to gently caress women and some would call that sexist, but he had a really diverse band and employed a lot of women, and many fans thought he was more admiring women than denigrating them.

Skyrim was a popular vidcon so if he just played it, even for a good long while, and then moved on to other games, I don't think you need to fear anything more than his inadvertently attempting to purchase wares from cats. If however he is still playing it five years later and talks about a mod load order you may need to call the shop.
