the das 2.0 has a hub, and mine is only a single cable. I think they added the second one to get more amperage

moved back to an open office space, coworkers vetoed the model m after 35 minutes and it has received an official eviction notice

at least i got bribed to ease the pain:

reqs:
- must be fairly silent
- vintage preferred, modern tolerated
- backlit not desired
- tenkey critical
- ps/2 preferred
- winkey optional, but appreciated

something with browns or clears should fit the bill nicely

tell them that it's the only keyboard you can manage due to your RSI, and that they need to make reasonable accommodation for your disability

if they won't let you use the keyboard you need in the open space, then they need to let you use the keyboard you need in another space

Seconding the Quiet Pro. Just got mine a few weeks ago. It feels loving great, rock solid, and might be quieter than even rubber domes. It doesn't do full nkro, but it has way more that 6kro even over usb. I can smash both hands and get maybe 10-12 keys before it starts ghosting. The key font also has a retro feel, like a 1991 IIgs or something

what's all this nonsense about capacitive switches? are they the new hotness? is my yet-to-be-delivered spergboard already obsolete? i saw a thing that said they had faster activation times so i can get sick headshots and dominate the competition

ps/2 natives allows like more n key rollever than usb1.1 but the lack of hot swap always disappoints

but any basic keyboard should be able to do it with adapter unless it's one of those hosed ones that needs drivers or some poo poo

capacitive switches are pretty old, actually. expensive, but even more reliable than mechanical switches. asian enterprise keyboard manufacturers like to make them, meant for data entry jobs at finance and such. one of the companies that has generic customer models is called topre. the poo poo from them are hipro models with spherical keycaps, say 104ug. it's about 300 for keyboard, and it won't feel nowhere near as good as mechanicals can, buy reliability is the only name of the game there

e2: hhkb has bunch of keyboards with topre switches, leopold and cooler master have one each too. there are a few others, but i don't recognize any of the brands.

tkl fuckin sucks though, makes me realise how often i used the keypad and especially having enter on the far right is very important to me. hitting the right arrow key just literally doesn't do the same thing

every time I've used a kinesis it's been a shitshow. how long does it take to stop hitting wrong keys all the time and hating your life? and does it mess with using non-bowl kbs?

I should add that I don't have detectable rsi at this point, so using one is strictly either prophylactic or just doin it cuz it's cool and good.

Give it 1 month and you won't even think about it going from kinesis to nomal layout. A real month though of using it every day.
