My first reaction to her kit was that holy poo poo, that's going to be annoying and in nerftown. The more I think about it though - 200 hp with the translocator being her only reliable escape. Yes, she has invisibility, and stealth skills are an annoying lovely thing in fps games, but - its broken by damage and if you catch her out, she's most likely dead. If she tries to invisi out of near range engagements, she should be popped out most of the time. Plus the fact is that what people really seem to hate about "stealth characters" is that they're invariably packaged with some sort of 1HKO backstab ability which Sombra lacks...yeah she can jam her gun in your face but she doesn't just get a free execution by being invisible and pressing melee, and the fragility of both her stealth and her hacking ability in a game where nobody has any ammo limits to discourage them from spamming fire everywhere combined with her bog-standard 200 hitpoints suggests that playing her is actually going to be somewhat unforgiving if you think the ability to turn invisible gives her carte blanche to 1v6 the enemy team.

The thing with hacking players is finding the characters that are both easy and worthwhile targets. The tanks seem like they'd be worthwhile, but not easy. A character like Hanzo might be easy but not worthwhile. Mercy is going to get hacked constantly, though.

Having watched a few streamers now of them playing Sombra, I take back the assertion that she's overpowered. Literally her only way of killing enemies is her SMG which has terrible damage. It's actually kinda interesting that she's listed as an offense hero. She does however look pretty good as a flanker(which I guess is why she's in the offense category). Lock down a health pack, harass the backline through invisibility and teleport. And when appropriate, EMP everyone to set up a push for your team. But the whole 'lockdown a healthkit' making it spawn faster and inaccessible to the enemy team for a minute (AND it persists through death) still sounds OP though.

Yeah of all the streams I watched, the only players who made her look like she would be a menace were those who basically used her like a 3D tracer that could hack health packs and didn't try anything else. She looked downright bad when people were just using her recall to go back to health packs.

It's going to be funny if Sombra has the exact opposite arc of Ana where everyone thinks she's going to be grotesquely OP on launch and then it turns out she's just sort of okay and everyone shrugs and goes right back to Lucio/Ana/Zarya/Reinhardt/McCree/Reaper/whatever.

I suspect Sombra is going to be decent at killing stuff--making a really rough estimate based on the footage that's out it seems like she can burst down 200 HP heroes in roughly 2-3 seconds if she's landing her shots, which is far from Tracer or Reaper levels of lethality but should be enough to secure a kill if she catches her target off guard. It also seems like her spread is just tight enough that she can build ult plugging tanks and harassing enemies from a comfortable distance, so if she's using her cooldowns well and not getting caught out and killed like the flankers on your pub team always are I think she'll be able to pull her weight. She doesn't have the mobility to be a persistent nuisance the way Tracer and Genji can, doesn't have the range to be a reliable hitscan damage dealer like McCree, and against reasonably aware teams the whole player hacking ability is going to be very difficult to use effectively. She should be decent at slipping into the enemy backline to get a quick pick and then backing out safely, though, and aside from making her freakishly survivable her medkit control and auto-wallhacks on low-health enemies are very scary for anybody who gets caught away from their team. Whether or not she finds her place in the meta or w/e is probably going to depend on how obscene the EMP+Graviton/Earthshatter combo is, and unless there's some major caveat to EMP we're not aware of yet I'm pretty sure it's going to be obscene. So they already have a big scene to pull from. It's a lot easier to find good coaches/players/teams in an environment that encourages them.
