So this one is actually a pun. 야동 normally means "erotic image", but it can also be parsed as "baseball image" depending on how the first syllable is interpreted. Additionally, ceremonial first pitches by celebrities are a common thing at both Korean and Japanese baseball games. I have to confess I don't remember how common they are at American games. While I know it's common to bring someone in to sing the National Anthem, aside from the opening game of the season I can't recall the first pitch ever being a big deal.

I'm really starting to enjoy the Dinette Set. It's amazing how entertaining a comic can be when the author actually wants you to dislike the characters, as opposed to, say, Luann.

I just reimagine the dad as Nick Cage. It helps. The artist should just copy-paste various GIS Nick Cage head shots on the dad's body. Instant quality.

I like the Dinette Set a lot, but it has also made me increasingly aware of these people in real life, like I"ll see a deal for something at a store and be like "Verl and Burl would figure out some way to rip this off." It's funny but sometimes it strikes a little too close to home.

I'm waiting for the reasoning for this pointless death trap. The last time I remember someone declined an instant-skill on Modesty and Willy, it was because they wanted to do it in a more public setting for street cred and had only heard of Modesty and Willy by reputation, having never dealt with them directly before. This is the exact opposite of that. Is it just going to be personal grudge? You'd think international drug kingpins would be smarter than that.

It's All Right Chief Dharma

Traditional Korean traditions coupled with how it's common for people in their twenties to still live with their parents in South Korea. Though I hear that's more common stateside these days.

Webtoon artist is actually a perfectly viable profession in South Korea. Major websites hire larger number of artists in aggregate and distribute through smart phones, so everyone's reading them on the subway or wherever. TV adaptations of popular webtoons are quite common, and overall it's probably the single field to get involved in as a creative person.

I have to provide this context because to the Americans who predominantly read this forum that probably sounds like a patently idiotic dream that could only appeal to to perverts, nerds, con artists, or a combination of all three. I'll never forget when I first started looking into Korean webcomics and was flabbergasted to learn that nearly every single one of them updates on a regular schedule with substantially more content and patently superior art compared to the usual hack on Patreon.

Thanks again (and again and again) for doing this, i like chief darma so much. I like the character (who wouldn't love to have a drink with chief darma? he's so nice and generous to his subordinates), i like the writing, and i love the cultural context.

I actually like that element ( :D ) because it lets me pretend that Jam Esallen is actually a warlock who got his job at Mark Trail purely as a way to integrate a wacky Chaos Magick ritual into the comics page. Like a Bizarro Grant Morrison.
