Goddrat it, will you please stop doing poo poo like this? Do you still not see it? poo poo like this is why Hillary lost. The people who voted for Trump aren't a shambling mass who stumbled out of their NRA meetings and megachurches and gated communities, previously unseen but now everywhere, like Walking Dead extras, their minds and motives inscrutable, but crude and hungry.

These people are your neighbors, your dental hygienist, your dog groomer, and a bunch of poor white trash motherfuckers who felt like the world had stopped listening to them. You don't have to like them. You can resent the fact that they look down on you for being gay. But they're Americans too, and you can't keep writing them off as being unworthy of consideration and not worth engaging. I know, "How can you apologize for the people who just elected a fascist President?" That's not how this works. You can't demand people apologize for disagreeing with you and come around. That overbearing attitude is why poor white motherfuckers pulled the pin out of an orange grenade with a lovely toupee and rolled it down Pennsylvania Ave.

I think the thing that bums me out the most is that the election wasn't about actual policies. It's a Rorschach test: what's worse, emails or racism? Benjamin Ghazi or sexual assault? And half of the country apparently has a vastly different value system from the other.

Trump winning feels like the culmination of the horseshit reality TV era- he's taken no prisoners, called names, stirred up drama, played to the LCD, and said stuff which would get anybody reading this fired/arrested (in public)/NJPed/whatever...and he's going to be rewarded with the Presidency.

MURICA: Repercussions of Evil

GiP waited. The lights above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were republicans in the base. He didn't see them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to Joe Biden were not listenend to and now it was too late. Far too late for now, anyway.
GiP was a space marine for fourteen years. When he was young he watched the debates and he said to dad "I want to smash the fash daddy."
Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY REPUBLICANS"
There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the polling place of the county he knew there were demons.
"This is HRC" the radio crackered. "You must fight the republicans!"
So GiP gotted his palsma rifle and blew up the wall.
"HE GOING TO VOTE AGIANST US" said the demons
"I will invailidate his vote" said the cyberdemon and he sent poll watchers. GiP tweeted at him and tried to blew him up. But then the power went and they were trapped and not able to tweet.
"No! I must kill the republicans" he shouted
The radio said "No, GiP. You are the republicans"
And then GiP was a corn cob.

I don't actually forsee much of a change in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Unless foreign policy Republicans intervene in the Senate, I do see us dropping support for NATO in eastern Europe as well as pushing less aggressively against Chinese territorial expansion in the South China Sea.

1.) calm the hell down
2.) I've been fairly aware of the need to make sure people aren't left behind, doubly so now that I work with people daily who have been hosed over by society -- lazy poo poo posting on the internet to the contrary. Put frankly you don't know poo poo about the person who exits outside of an Internet forum.
3.) no one who made it through the democratic primary was going to appeal for the people who voted for trump tonight. That's a structural issue that the Democratic Party is going to have to examine in the post mortem
4.) in reaching out to these voters we can't abandon the principles of not loving over minorities because otherwise what's the point?
5.) I have/had an extremely personal stake in this election that I sincerely think you don't get so that tints my language and feelings. I am legitimately scared for myself and my family and a bunch of men taking victory laps before the proverbial corpse has cooled rubs me the wrong way. Now that I've reflected and let some things sink in I'm a little less angry.

READING COMPREHENSION IS HARD
Its maybe time to stop pretending that Hillary was an amalgam of Bill and Barack. That maybe the person who couldn't win a spoonfed nomination in 2008 or put away an 8000 year old Vermont half-socialist until convention wasn't really all that beloved by the party, let alone the electorate. That maybe the last thing an electorate that is fed loving up with the establishment or political dynasties is going to vote for is someone who thinks its their Divine Right to ascend to the Presidency because they wanted it badly enough.

Your stake isn't any more important than the rest of ours to be absolutely honest. You think I'm not scared for my family members who are Mexican nationals? The overt racism in my part of California is at an all time high and now that a likely president elect agrees with them it's only going to get worse. And while it sucks for you, maybe try to stop acting like everyone is out to get you or something
