Bernie would have won because the people that enabled Hillary to beat him were people of color in states we don't win who didn't turn out to vote in those states. The states that were enthusiastic for Bernie were in many cases the states he ended up needing to win the most.

The whole prevailing logic behind her superiority as a candidate due to primary electability falls apart when you consider how low minority turnout was (and that they didn't even reliably break for Hillary)

Most of the people who voted Hillary in the primary were going to vote Dem in the general no matter what. Minorities are a locked in Dem demographic who by and large don't get a choice. Bernie got a lot of new voters in on the Dem primaries and did very well with whites, who turned out to be the key to this election (and also every other election ever).

This election also came down to turnout. Hillary could have won if she could have gotten Democratic asses out of chairs and into the voting booths, but shes a pretty dogshit candidate with no charisma or charm. Bernie could motivate people. Ironically his gently caress off huge rallies would have been what the Dems needed to turn out the vote.

So the theory is Bernie would have done better with whites, not lost any minorities, and would have increased Dem turnout, all leading to a Dem victory.

Its an absolute loving disaster, I think it will be a combination or Trump passing every regressive policy the republican congress can cook up, and every now and then Trump himself will go on some kind of hair brained and idiotic crusade and he'll be totally enabled to do that

Meanwhile, the supreme court will get a fresh bunch of conservative judges, and the stalling tactics of the republicans in congress to not accept obamas nomination will have paid off

Republicans will easily win the midterms in 2018, and will be in a good position to win it all again in 2020 with an incumbent president running, and then when redistricting occurs gerry mandering will get much worse, further cementing republican rule over the nation
