Dr. Infant, MD
I wrote the following on facebook when a highschool mate made a "nothing will change, don't worry" themed post (even though he was very anti trump). Anyway here is the thing I wrote with a few touchups

Thing is it's not trump that's going to do the real damage. He wants to be president but he has no interest in doing the work of president. He'll give us Nixon levels of abuse of power, he'll influence the national dialogue w.r.t. women, minorities and immigrants to the point where a lot of heinous poo poo will pass as popular opinion. Nevermind the shape our foreign policy will take. But now on top of that, with congress the way it is, we will see 2 years, likely 4, of Paul Ryan and Mike "conversion therapy" Pence streamlining legislation through.

  • ACA is done. If you didn't like it then congrats on re-enrolling in the Don't Quit / Don't Get Sick plan
  • Scalia 2.0 will take the bench, and only that if we're lucky
  • Supply side economics will be back with a vengeance, we will go back to punching down on the poor for their own benefit
  • The filibuster, which needed a change to prevent the abuse it saw to block Obama for 6 years, will now be gone in a twist of irony
  • Planned Parenthood is going to be functionally dismantled
  • I can't even start to predict the poo poo that's going to get thrown on the LBGT community

---------

From that I kind of want to work on quantifying the losses here, and the likelihood of each. Filling SCOTUS will definitely happen, for sure, but will he literally launch nukes at someone? Maybe not. That kind of thing. Any input on what else is fallout would be helpful.

Part of talking to people and understanding their fears is actually altering policies and candidates based on these things, and the Democrats failed to do this in a good enough fashion.
