I'm not a cat person but I want to sit with all those cats on my lap and just pet them for a few hours. I cried this morning and on and off throughout the day. I'm trying so hard to tell myself that we will survive this, just as we survived Bush. I'm such a goddamn baby Also that squirrel is real fat yo.

This is Matisse, the sweetest yet derpiest cat I ever knew. He was fond of bowls or anywhere else he could curl up nice and tight, and would occasionally greet you from the sink if you visited the bathroom at night. I would joke that the light in his eyes was just the sunlight streaming through his ears but when you looked into his big brown eyes you could tell how happy and loving he way. His fur was so soft, and I was always surprised when I visited my friend and stroked him, it almost felt like petting a cloud. When not in his bowl he could be found hanging out with his brother Picasso, a tabby manx who got along well. If something happened he didn't like he woud look up at you with a sad gaze that just said "Why are you so MEAN!" which you would then pick him up and hug him and let him know everything was fine. He would rumble like a small truck when happy, and had huge paws so you barely felt him standing on you if he came over. Sadly he died about three years ago after a brief illness, but every once in awhile if I leave a bowl out on the counter I'll feel a slight cold area inside and wonder if he came over to visit for awhile.

Alter Ego posted:Also that squirrel is real fat yo. Over summer I used to put seeds, nuts and bird food on my balcony - always had a fatty repeat squirrel show up to eat. It would sniff around the food, then plop down on its belly near the nicest pile it found and practically inhale the seeds/nuts like a furry little vacuum cleaner first time I saw it I was stoned as hell and laughed so loud I scared it away (it came back though, wish I got pictures)

I don't even know how a squirrel could get that fat. No natural predators or anything that even chases them? Our dog alone is enough to keep the squirrels here in fighting trim.

JD-Smith posted:Are you telling me Wikipedia and old cat ladies have lied to me?! Wiki says no such thing quote:"Tortoiseshell" is typically reserved for particolored cats with relatively small or no white markings. Those that are largely white with tortoiseshell patches are described as tricolor,[2] tortoiseshell-and-white (in the United Kingdom), or calico (in Canada and the United States). The two coats are essentially the same genes, the distinction is more-or-less that black dominates on a tortoiseshell, and white dominates on a calcio. Edit: My Violet has a splotch of white on her neck and belly, but in no world would you call her a calico dupersaurus has a new favorite as of 17:05 on Nov 10, 2016 |

expensive jeans posted:Ah, the legendary tsuchineko. Seriously, though, I wish I could enjoy anything as much as that one dog enjoys his ball pit. I don't even know how to enjoy something that much. Also on the subject of nice human things, I found an lgbt church here in Huntsville. My partner and I are gonna give it a try. one of the things that convinced me to go was the testimony of a sweet little old lesbian who was super happy to have finally found an accepting place where she felt safe after being treated poorly almost her whole life. For some reason, old gay folks are more precious to me than their straight counterparts.
