Do you think Trump is actually picking them or if Pence/other Republicans are?

The GOP really should be seeking to calm people down at this point and a good way to do that is by encouraging Trump to pick relatively moderate cabinet members.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you (or anyone) doesn't in some sense care about poor white people. But we basically have to look at their viewpoint- they see their communities falling apart. Drug use rampant. Massive suicide rates. No prospects at all for locals, and absolutely no path to being able to afford the skyrocketing costs of housing in the city. And what do they get from the media? Everyone screaming about white privilege. A narrative telling them that they have every possible advantage because they're white; they have no reason to complain. Naturally they're going to reject this with every fiber of their being, because there is absolutely no objective reason for them to feel privileged in their day to day life experience.

Are they right to think this? I'm not sure. It's almost beside the point. But can you really be surprised that they feel rejected?

The problem with the brogressive narrative isn't that we hate poor white people or that we don't empathize with them, the problem is that the solutions they want are impossible and no amount of messaging can fix that. We can't win their vote if Republicans can effortlessly undermine us with them from the right.

I want a montage with all the empty headed think pieces about how Trump supporters are all motivated by the economy and racism has nothing to do with it no sir.

The media tripped over itself to absolve Trump voters.

Like remember Donald Trump ANNOUNCED HIS CANDIDACY with "deport/ban Mexicans and Muslims, they suck." People didn't flock to him for his stirring advocacy of the working man.

Can't do it on its own.

Helpfully, the House has already voted like 400 times to repeal it, and the Senate is on board too.

It comes down to if anyone wants to get a replacement in, then a Trump administration is going to have to put together a pretty complex piece of legislation.

Trump wants it gone on day 1, and there are a bunch of idiot House members who will gladly jump on that grenade. The only problem is that means on day 1 Trump removes like 20 million people's health care. The hope is that there are at least a few Rep Senators who are going to look at that and go nooooope!

That said, the proposed replacement is HSAs (woo! federally mandated bank use while keeping the burden on employees!) and likely no contraceptive coverage + no state borders so everything is going to be based out of Wyoming or whichever red State gets to the regulatory bottom first. And I really don't see Republican Senators having any issues with any of this.

Maybe a year to wind down. Expect it gone by 2018, and then the filibuster will be broken and we get even more fun!!!
