It's more than that. Young black voters breaking for Bernie was the canary in the coal mine. Young people need more than just triangulated platitudes about how they have to manage their expectations for economic progress, they need a material politics that they can eat.

The response from the typical libs was to talk about how much Barack Obama being President was great for the pride of black students, but they can't eat pride..

I agree. Incrementalism was a good idea way back in the day when the liberal elite had overwhelming power. Right now they need the populist progressives more than the populist progressives need them. I think that you need to be careful that this doesn't become a wholesale rejection of experts, though. Post-truth, post-fact bellyfeel campaigns are bad in the long run for society. I think it's possible to both have good, expert-driven policy and distill it down into good, headline-gathering soundbites. It's not an either or.

remember when hillary refused to release her wall street transcripts and her faithful gave her a pass? remember when it came out that hillary was indeed in bed with wallstreet and her faithful blew it off because they were blinded by sunk cost fallacy?

quote:

Touching on her view of developing financial regulations, Clinton declared to a crowd of Goldman Sachs bankers that in order to “figure out what works,” the “people that know the industry better than anybody are the people who work in the industry.”

At the Goldman Sachs Builders and Innovators Summit, Clinton responded to a question from chief executive Lloyd Blankfein, who quipped that you “go to Washington” to “make a small fortune.” Clinton agreed with the comment and complained about ethics rules that require officials to divest from certain assets before entering government. “There is such a bias against people who have led successful and/or complicated lives,” Clinton said.

I would like a more detailed explanation if you have the time.

Right-libertarianism is anti state liberalism, which I assume you're defining in the classical sense of "individual rights and freedoms" while left-libertarianism is anti-state socialism which you're presumably defining as... "collective rights and freedoms"?

I mean I agree that left-libertarianism is a pretty dangerous ideology and I'm kinda glad the flirtations with it got a lot of people burned because it's like progressivism without the sacrifice or the actual results but I'm not quite getting the full picture here.

The worst was the projecting. Posters unironically thinking I want to decriminalize weed, not because I want to end the police state HRC *spit* helped architect, but obviously because "I just want to smoke weed". Completely ignoring that retail weed in NYC would actually be a step down from the awesome delivery services that are available. (Lol if you think weed delivery would be allowed).

Or how about wanting a minimum income, oh obviously I just want to oppress black people and only allow white people to have it.
Free College? Heh, only white people go to college, you racist.
Against the Low Income Earned Housing Credit? Obviously you hate black people. Completely ignoring that the LIEHC is a loving handout to people like Donald Trump in the first place.

It was just awful. Anyway I've reached out to a several people I worked with during the Primary so hopefully I can be a small part of the New DNC, now is a good time for people looking to get in on the ground floor since loyalty pledges and purity tests have been abandoned.
