This is cool and good. I'll be interested to see what Hbomb thinks of DS3 when he gets around to playing it. The game was good, but to me it felt like it was constantly screaming "HEY KIDS REMEMBER THIS poo poo YOU LIKED FROM THE FIRST GAME!? IT'S BAAAAACK!"

To Hbomb: For something similar to Game Conditioning is "First Order Optimal Strategy" which I don't think was first coined by Extra Credits but that's certainly the most popular use according to a quick google search. A FOOS refers to a tactic or ability that is disproportionately powerful for how easy it is to do. Like, say, using a shield in any of the Souls games. This doesn't mean it's the most efficient or most powerful, but just that its power and ease of use make it the backbone of how many people will play the game. Parry and riposte is the most efficient way or dispatching an enemy in Dark Souls 1, and sidstepping to a backstab for Dark Soulses 2 and 3, but they all require much more risk for only a marginally better reward (killing an enemy a fraction of a second faster, and a slightly higher soul income in DS1). A FOOS is purely mechanical, while your Game Conditioning seems to be more about presentation, but it might be worth looking up if you haven't heard of it.

I absolutely adore Bloodborne. I wish it had better magic and ranged options but the changing weapons did give you a ton of varied options. I like Dark Souls a whole lot but the combat in Bloodborne just did it for me a whole lot more. It was one of the few games where I could actively see my progress get better because I didn't have that shield crutch. One boss in the dungeons kept giving me a hard time but after a hour the thing couldn't touch me and when I fought it again in a different chalice dungeon, I beat it on my first try getting hit once or twice. Some bosses I didn't like - the final DLC boss comes to mind, but overall I hope they make a sequel to the game and add more to the multiplayer before they move on to other projects outside the Soul-like games.

I like Bloodborne because of how ridiculously anime it got towards the end. Like the final boss was literally teleporting while fighting with a giant anime scythe that transforms into a fuckoff huge blade. Or how the dlc boss is pretty much a donut steel. Twin blades, nono dual wielding blood blades, nono dual wielding swords that spew flaming blood.

Bloodborne is the ultra violent anime I always wanted as a kid is what I am saying.

If you listen to podcasts at all Bonfireside Chat is just about done with the main game of DS3 and they've basically been saying that the entire time. Mechanically the game is extremely good (aside from the poise nonsense) but it's leaning way too hard on callbacks all around.

God damn it, where are my ant keys?! I'm gonna miss my flight!
Bloodborne makes me sad that I don't have a PS4, but I suppose I could just make a strong dude in DS2 and roll around with a tree. I definitely cannot wait until the DS2 video comes out because I always thought the community was a little too hard on it and was amused when suddenly there were people who started appreciating it after they played DS3.

I do genuinely really like 2 since it seemed a bit more willing to experiment. Mechanically Demons Souls and Dark Souls 1 and 3 feel mechanically quite similar. That's not a bad thing but 2 had stuff like power stancing, the torch (even if it was more or less useless), extremely diverse DLC, breakable chests, soul memory, weapon durability repairing at bonfires, etc to name some of the big and small things as well as the good and bad. DS3 feels very safe overall and it's still a drat fine game but, as I said, it's kind of safe compared to DS2 or Bloodborne.

I'm getting these comments from self righteous white liberals who think they can play 5 dimensional chess at the lost of millions. Few things tick me off more than people who claim to be good but prove their vindication outweighs their morals. Hell the poo poo rear end corporate media is so stupid in their arrogance in their rich bubble they can't realize that maybe, just maybe, they should have listened to the people instead of their donors.

If you didn't have a character in DS2 with two bonefists and zero shirts, you didn't play the game right.

DS2 is the game I have the most hours in because the amount of dumb but still usable ways you could kit out your character was amazing. Fist weapons, mashing people up between two greatshields like the worst pac man reboot, power-stancing those giant hammers from the tower DLC that required 105 str to pull off....

:agreed:

We didn't need a play-by-play from every news network when one hour of reporting when the results came in would've done. Also all those inaccurate pre-election polls didn't help when they lured the Dems into not working as hard as they could have.

Huh skimming and it's an interesting vid, I'll check that out. I actually read the complete brigadier gerard not too long ago. I was a childhood sir Arthur Conan Doyle fan and yet somehow I'd never even heard of the stories or gerard's existence until like a year ago
Entertaining stuff, I wonder if I would've preferred him to Sherlock as a kid. Seems blasphemous to contemplate but Gerard is way more cavalier, oblivious, and amusing

After watching Todd's newest video, I remembered that it's almost the end of the year, which means it's time for predictions of the best/worst of the year! I sadly can't comment on that since I haven't kept up on current music that much, but I'm sure others here can.
