i'd recommend trotsky's 3-volume history, the cpsu's own history of the communist party of the soviet union and ten days that shook the world by john reed

Yes, the Marxist-Leninist source is "History of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (bolshevik)" - https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/stalin/works/1939/x01/index.htm

Basically it goes through all the strains of opportunism that the bolsheviks had to contend with, the majority of which we are still fighting with today (social democracy, economism, anarchism etc) - laying out the "road to revolution" with the marxist theory to go with it, rather than just a "this happened, then this happened" devoid of revolutionary theory. the book changed my life.

Ill second 10 days that shook the world too, but will never recomend anything by trotsky unless you're looking for information on where everything went so wrong with the left in imperialist countries (sorry guyovich)

E.H. Carrs "The Bolshevik Revoluion" has a nice summing up in the first chapters of volume 1 too

Tbh that made me angrier than nearly anything else she's done in this campaign. The one actual reason - other than ambition - for her running in this race was to shatter the glass ceiling on behalf of America's women and girls. And then she doesn't show up to give a concession speech, to offer them any comfort after such a stunning defeat. Instead, she sends out Pedestal, and then the next day she holds a concession speech -- not in front of staff or supporters but in front of donors. What enormous cowardice.

He's right about everything except the idea that we need to create a new party. We need to organize outside of the democratic party, but our vessel for political action should be dried out husk of the DNC.

E:By keeping the political wing separate from the ideological wing we can keep the careerists in politics where they will be most effective and where they can't corrupt the movement with their handwringing.

Don't give 'em an inch. Obama set a precedent for assassinating American citizens abroad, and now Donald J. Trump has inherited that power. Obama refused to prosecute war crimes and torture, and now Trump is going to bring it all back 10 fold. Obama wouldn't side with Labor in any of its struggles after he promised to be on that picket line, and now there might not even be an NLRB - and the AFL-CIO is bending their knee to Trump.

Obama hosed us all hard.

We are prepared to work with President-elect Trump if he’s serious about following through with his promises to pursue policies that improve the lives of working people and veterans.

When I was serving in Iraq, General James Mattis gave us the passwords of “No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy.” Donald Trump will soon be the president of the United States. When he’s with veterans, we’ll be with him. When he’s against veterans, we’ll be against him.

As we reflect today, most commentary will focus on actions we veterans undertook in our past. Let’s instead focus on the successes veterans, the working class and President-elect Trump can have in the future, together.

I may have been a wee bit hasty

I wouldn't even call them 'anti-authoritarian' so much as they're simply reformist, for better or worse, and try to work within parliamentary politics as you said. Although I guess the classification at this point is moot since there's not exactly a thriving workers' council movement in america
