We're seeing reports in the news of people being verbally and physically assaulted, mocked and threatened in classrooms, and neo-Nazis and the KKK marching everywhere. This seems explicitly enabled by Trump's election and the alt-right feeling emboldened by it. What do we do about this? Will the Trump administration decry these happenings, or will they just sit back and let it happen? Arm yourself.

Fighting systemic racism, expanding sexual, reproductive and gender-identity rights, allowing refugees to relocate in America, and providing paths to legal citizenship for illegal immigrants are all good progressive goals. However. Your average high-probability voter doesn't see any immediate tangible benefits to those policies because those voters are not lesbian Somali refugees in the country illegally while these policies add to a feeling of uncertainty about their already-dimnishing future. Progressives should advance those goals, but their emphasis needs to be in making tangible improvements to the lives of all Americans instead of trying to form a coalition out of disparate identity politics.

No, they might be pissed off when the extent of his backpedalling on campaign promises becomes clear, though. This is more for the people who stayed home, or maybe at worst neutral for the handful of Trump supporters that supported Obama and just want someone to hold their hand and tell them the rust fairy's bringing their factory jobs back.

Trump says his social media power key to victory Social media played a key role in his victory, says Donald Trump, and he will continue to use it in the White House. The president-elect tells Lesley Stahl his victory offers proof that his social media presence had greater leverage on the election than hundreds of millions of dollars spent by the Democrats to influence its outcome.
