Some of the things going are real, like the school chanting, but so are the videos of people beating Trump supporters and the Protests turning borderline riots against Trumps win.

There was the whole thing where some student from Oklahoma added every single black freshman at UPenn this inaspiciously named groupchat:

Student Calvary Rogers said Friday afternoon that “every single black freshmen was added” to a group calling “N----r Lynching.”

well, they didn't tell the exact details in the followup, but I suppose it can't be that difficult to find a roster of freshmen for a school, figure out who's black, and then just mass-add them to a Groupme.

I've tried calling them out, but it always go back to people valuing money over everything else.

seriously though, this seems like the obvious way to move forward

shame works best when you make the other person feel it for themselves. not if you try to force it on people.

instead of saying "you're racist" how about show egregious examples of racism and be like "goodness, who could ever support these people!?"

although to be fair, we've been doing that and plenty of people still find a way to disassociate themselves with it: see the comments section of anything showing an unarmed person being murdered by police (though even that has different societal factors).

So, Trump's election has caused a wave of racist, bigoted, and white supremacist action and events to surge. We're seeing reports in the news of people being verbally and physically assaulted, mocked and threatened in classrooms, and neo-Nazis and the KKK marching everywhere. This seems explicitly enabled by Trump's election and the alt-right feeling emboldened by it. What do we do about this? Will the Trump administration decry these happenings, or will they just sit back and let it happen?

This is what scares me the most, aside from Pence. If this keeps up and Pence somehow gets power, we're headed for Nazi Germany.

Fighting systemic racism, expanding sexual, reproductive and gender-identity rights, allowing refugees to relocate in America, and providing paths to legal citizenship for illegal immigrants are all good progressive goals. However. Your average high-probability voter doesn't see any immediate tangible benefits to those policies because those voters are not lesbian Somali refugees in the country illegally while these policies add to a feeling of uncertainty about their already-dimnishing future. Progressives should advance those goals, but their emphasis needs to be in making tangible improvements to the lives of all Americans instead of trying to form a coalition out of disparate identity politics.

Of Trump's supporters? No, they might be pissed off when the extent of his backpedalling on campaign promises becomes clear, though. This is more for the people who stayed home, or maybe at worst neutral for the handful of Trump supporters that supported Obama and just want someone to hold their hand and tell them the rust fairy's bringing their factory jobs back.

Trump says his social media power key to victory

Social media played a key role in his victory, says Donald Trump, and he will continue to use it in the White House. The president-elect tells Lesley Stahl his victory offers proof that his social media presence had greater leverage on the election than hundreds of millions of dollars spent by the Democrats to influence its outcome. President-elect Trump and his family will appear in their first post-election television interviews on Sunday’s 60 Minutes, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

God I've waffled about this post. The gentlemen arrested for the shooting, based on the police statement, are named "Steffon Marquise Corothers and Shamar Xavier Hunter". This doesn't really suggest anti-protest shooting to me, unless the police just arrested Usual Suspects (very possible) or we have found the legendary violent black Trump supporters.

I mostly note this because I would much rather share the ten zillion Trumpist violent incidents over the next two months (or four years :gonk: ) than focus on ones that may be indeterminate.

(It's also worth noting that the police being dickbags in this protest has been overshadowed by this incident.)
