I use Scorch on every map except Homestead, and I'd be totally okay with this.

yeah if you lowered the damage it would still be a net gain because the cost of missing your shot goes down.

Fun efficiency factoid. You can pull the trigger a tiny bit before the lock if you have the timing down. It will keep locking and firing more while doing the firing animation. most noticable against groups of spectres and grunts. But sometimes every frame counts.

At least it's not crash site. They really need to either smooth out the geometry of that map or better yet, delete it from the game and fire the guy who made it. I literally just quit out whenever that map comes up. It's that bad.

I'm actually starting to get the hang of that map. Really, what I hate most is going inside the space ship or whatever. I don't know if it's the size of the hull when you're inside, or the fact that it sits on a weird tilt.. I always feel like a snail running through. Totally breaks my sense of momentum.

Tonight I started a match stuck in the crouch position, and couldn't escape it no matter what I did. Boy was that fun! :allears:

I thought my Titan would fix that, but while not crouched I couldn't sprint or dash. That was fun.

I feel like the novelty of the epilogue has passed and I'm really over the pointless minute added to each round. I usually just die on purpose anymore so I can do something else for a minute.

Also, goddamn guys can we stop with the massive table breaking gifs on every page? It's seriously lagging out chrome for me.

Yeah but it just really doesn't make any sense why. I should be able to change my boost mid game in response to how the game is progressing. Like I love smart pistol but after the early game its pretty poo poo.

Don't you get more experience for securing/denying evac?

I haven't noticed anything in the postgame screen mentioning it, so I assumed not. Maybe it helps get you the "Good Performance" merit?

I've been using Scorch a bit. Really cool mech, very unique. I've noticed the canisters you can shoot out are a little finicky though. Couldn't tell if they have a set-up time before they can be ignited or if the gun is just sometimes weird about lighting them.

I think you can leave your match as soon as the game is actually over without any penalty, win or lose

I saw/heard that evacuating gets you almost as much experience as a win, but I'm not really finding anything that explains how experience is doled out.

You get a merit for successfully evac'ing and you level by getting merits.

Use the firewall instead. It totally looks cooler is generally more reliable, and it stacks with the fire patch.

Every time you level up a weapon, titan or faction you get +1 merit. Weapon XP is just based on getting pilot/titan kills/assists, giving you +1 bar per kill/assist. I'm not too sure on Titan XP but I think you get 1 bar upon calling in your titan, earning your core, and I think getting titan kills/assists. Factions you get XP for winning/extracting.

Every time you finish a in-match challenge you get +1 merit, and there are always 3 (finish match, win match, and a game mode specific one, Attrition for example is get 3 pilot kills without dying). The 3rd challenge is the one that gets you the "good performance" merit.

Extracting gets you a "Hot Zone Extract" merit, which is +1 and basically counts the game as a win (so you get +1 XP for your faction as well).

Once you get out of the first couple of levels it's 10 merits/level. So if I level up my Spitfire 2 times, my Archer 1 time, get my good performance merit and win the match I will get +6 merits towards my level.

As the guy said above, firewall is a good way to light them. To explain a bit further I think when you shoot them out and they first land they start releasing the gas but it takes a second to get to a wide enough dispersal that a random nearby cannon shot can set them off. Directly hitting the canisters themselves at any time will set them off (no idea if you could barrel-bomb people by shooting them in mid-air, probably?) and otherwise you need your AoE (or any AoE from anyone) to land roughly wherever the gas has gotten to.

If you win a match you get a "Victory" merit, and a pip on your faction merit.

If you successfully evac you get a merit for successful evac (replacing the "Victory" merit), and a pip on your faction merit. Identical XP progress for a win or a successful evac.

"Good Performance" is completely seperate to that and based on the challenges you see on the pause menu of the game during a match.

Here's a protip for scorch - angle your canisters onto the roof of the dropship then set that poo poo on fire. :supaburn:

I've had brief stints of luck with all of the smgs and thought they were amazing, just to eventually feel really underwhelmed by them. Except the alternator which is really really solid. Probably my favorite gun in the game along with the R-209 which isn't exciting but I'll be damned if it doesn't get the job done.

The last one with the really high rate of fire kind of sucks imo, but I thought it was so good for like 10 rounds and it never showed me any love after that. I don't like guns that can't hit shot more than 20 feet away though.

Never played the first Titanfall and I gotta say this poo poo is great. I wish my teammates could break 100 on attrition though.

Also what's the best auto-titan? I've been trying the sword one out and it's gotten a couple of titan / player kills. That starting shotgun is hands down one of the best shotguns in a fps. Maybe it's because you can close distance so fast but it just feels so much better than every other shotgun.

It was one of my main guns in the first game where it was just a primary by itself. I just really enjoy the innovation where every other gun that shoots bullets in a game is just tiny variations of "bullet goes straight" the smart pistol is a completely different playstyle that still fits within the confines of the shooter. See Resistance: Fall of Man as another game I like for similar reasons. Or for a non shooter, Custom Robo has a ton of unique weapons just in the gun slot alone.
