Is that MO2? Why not just keep using the stable MO1 for OGkrim?

Okay I think this is what I'm going to go with -

The Skyrim Script Extender obviously
SkyUI
SPERG(question, does this make magic damage actually scale with skill?)
Immersive Armors
Immersive Weapons
Immersive Creatures
Maybe that better map mod?
e: Maybe one of those soul gem mods. I remember enjoying enchanting but I hated how filling the gems worked, especially having to be careful not to waste a larger one on a smaller soul

Basically I don't want to change the game up too much, I'd say I completed roughly half the game on my first play, in terms of exploration and quests, so I'd like to jazz it up a little bit. Also do I need a difficulty mod? I was reading SPERG made the game too easy, but perhaps I can just crank the in game difficulty up to compensate?

My computer isn't super great, I have a GeForce 730GT so I decided not to mess with the ENB mods, maybe I'll give some of the less taxing ones a try once I'm already going. Also I don't have any of the DLC yet, but I'm not sure why any of those mods would require it.

SPERG has autoperks that make magic scale with skill, and a lot of other good stuff besides.

I need to figure out what I'm going to play this time. Last time I was a boring 1hander/sheild/resto paladin in the original game. I briefly tried out dual weild/bows/sneaky on a new game and it seemed fun but I didn't have the heart to repeat all the intro stuff again and that's when I wound up getting my ps4 anyway. Maybe I'll do the dual wield/magic spellsword type of dude.

Two fairly specific mod questions for Original Skyrim: I was playing around with some mods and one greatly improved the arrows adding in Bodkin Nords, Practice, and other types I can't remember. What mod is that? I'm also looking for a craftable crossbows and bolts mod but the ones I've found don't spawn them in shops or I'm able to craft them.

OK, so ENBs still do good work in SSE even with the improved lighting engine. I was really unhappy with the really flat(?) and cold(?) lighting that came from most light sources, which was especially bad paired with a darker nights mod. I didn't want to install yet another lighting mod (try to keep things more vanilla), so tried out an ENB instead - pretty happy with how it turned out so far.

Alrighty, I got Mod Organizer and most of the mods I listed installed and seemingly running good, still waiting on one or two to download. It was confusing at first but once I got the ball rolling it's actually pretty convenient using the MO. I already asked this earlier in a way, but more specifically this time - If I don't want the game to become too easy what options should I enable/disable in SPERG? I set it so food doesn't permanently increase stats, also thinking of disabling quest rewards but I left it default for now. I saw there is a hardcore mode but also left it off. Difficulty wise, it doesn't need to be super hard, I just don't want the game to become piss easy too fast. I'd like to work for it.

Set difficulty to at least expert. Train archery as far as you can go with Faendal, then never use another trainer the rest of the game. Level everything only through use.

I could calculate your chances of survival... but you won't like it.
In the regular Skyrim modding scene, is there any mod that lets you tweak the block timing and effectiveness? I'm wanting to approach combat with a bit more finesse involved, but the half-second delay between pressing block and actually blocking an attack is tripping me up.

You'll have to wait until SKSE is out.

For OG Skyrim LessIntrusiveHUDii will let you scale, and rotate, various HUD elements. Default key to get the HUD unlocked is Enter on the Numberpad. On screen instructions from there. I am certain it requires SKSE so it isn't likely to be available on SSE any time soon, and anything else might be even more clumsy to edit.

Dunno about numbers on bars, but LessIntrusiveHUDii will let you switch the way the healthbar depletes so it drains from oneside to the other, rather than the nearly impossible to intuitively make sense of center orientation. Basically a requirement for ANY mods that end up making the gameplay more deadly.

I am playing original Skyrim. Thanks for this recommendation.

Next question for anyone: is there a mod that increases enemy density? I'm getting bored cutting down only one or two enemies at a time. I would like a few more to deal with per encounter. I'm thinking about installing immersive creatures for more variety, does that change enemy density at all?

SIM does add some extra creature spawns in exterior spaces, and provides some extra enemy variety in dungeons (doesn't seem to change enemy count much). I've noticed it enhances enemy encounter variety rather than just adding more.

If you just want a plugin or two that adds more enemies the Populated Skyrim (prison, dungeons, forts, lands) series work well. (Forts is pretty intense). As does Extra Encounters Reborn (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/58613/)

Have there been changes to the papyrus script engine in the last year? I came back from a year long hiatus to port over my Companions mod, and the original papyrus scripting is missing entirely from the mod. I went back and re-downloaded the mod from Steam Workshop on the old skyrim and that one is broken too. It was working fine this time last year.

No. And the only difference between OldSkyrim and SkyrimSE scripting-wise is that SKSE and the functions it introduces aren't available yet for SkyrimSE.
I'm not sure what you mean with "the original papyrus scripting is missing". Your mod is "A Perfect Circle"? I grabbed it and the scripts are there in the bsa archive.

if you mean the script sources for the original game scripts, they get cleared out every time the ck gets updated, and it got updated for the paid mods poo poo.

Also, the SE CK stores the script sources in a different folder than the original CK, because why the gently caress not?! data\source\scripts I think.

Yes that is the mod. I don't use SKSE, only vanilla assets. I unpacked the original BSA and repacked everything using the create archive function in the new CK. Everything was working except combat functions with the NPCs. The mod gives the NPC a spell that triggers a magic effect + gives a new perk to the NPC. The magic effect CK sheet lists the scripts correctly, but in the perk sheet the papyrus scripts are missing. I might just have to re-add them. Ill tinker with it some more tonight and see what happens. Thanks for the tips!

Well I got my mods working but I noticed an issue. My skyrim has that deal where when you move the camera slowly it's "jittery". Its sometimes really subtle and sometimes really noticeable. It's hard to say for sure but I think it's worse when you're around a lot of trees and rocks, less so interiors. It's not the mods, it does it even booting up the game in vanilla mode, and I think my computer is strong enough to run it, depending on resolution and settings it ran anywhere from 40-60 fps. I tried limited framerate to 30 with riva tuner, and then with an .ini edit instead. It seemed to help a little but it definitely didn't fix it. I tried a mod to run in borderless windowed, didn't fix it, but it did fix my double pointer arrow issue when alt tabbing at least. I also messed around with V sync, tried setting graphics with my Nvidia program, and also tried it letting the game set them.

In fact the only thing that seems to help is setting the Skyrim process to Realtime priority. I googled the hell out of it and nothing has fixed it, but it's still playable at least. My computer is a Lenovo, I think the stats are I5, 8 gigs ram, and a GeForce GT 730.

e: It's both in first person and third person mode. Third person mode it's less noticeable but only because you are zoomed out more I think.

Also since he is the current overhaul king, EnaiSiaion just dropped his vampire overhaul Sacrosanct for SE and Oldrim. Looks like a good alternative to the aging Better Vampires.

Personally, I didn't enjoy it. There's one main dungeon area which is moderately interesting, the main mechanical gimmick is fine. There's an exploration fetch quest for the entire area which is alright. I appreciate that it'll add quest markers when you're looking for the last few, and that you can manufacture the items personally if you have the crafting skill and materials. What I really dislike is trekking back and forth this moderately sized area with infinitely respawning enemies. At one point you fight a miniboss, upon removing its health it stuns you and retreats behind a door. Luckily there's a completely out of place ballista pointed right at it! Oh no! The ballista is missing its lever! Time to leave the area with the miniboss (who will stand stock still directly on the other side of the door for all time) to back track across the same area you've been back tracking across for 30 minutes dealing with the gimmick for to get the lever to cross back again to flip the switch to actually kill the boss. The house is... Alright? The style is so far removed from anything else in skyrim that it clashed for me a bit. The auto sort mechanic being sorta a lore supported mechanic was really nice but the dungeon stuff unlock it tired me out from actually enjoying the house.
