I never thought i'd say this, but The New Guy is worse at writing Homestuck than Hussie was, and i thought Hussie was the worst possible HOmestuck writer.

Hussie is the worst possible choice for writing Homestuck, except for all the others. I don't know, the Homestuck itch is still there (ref: big dumb posts I made here), and will probably never go away due to the unsatisfying way it ended, but I don't think a new writer can actually replace Hussie. Paradox Space was fine even if the quality was hit-and-miss, and I could imagine another writer filling in with some Homestuck side-stories or a period of relatively peaceful slice-of-life fluff padding out a period between the end of the old story and the start of whatever's going on with Caliborn and Lord English. Some low-stakes plot arcs about dealing with problems (apparently racism? or leprechaun sexts?) in the new universe could help establish the players have a new life and clarify where the dynamics between the different characters stand after a few years. If Hussie doesn't really have a plan or any intention to continue or resolve the main story of Homestuck or wants to delegate that writing to someone else, though... I mean poo poo, the Homestuck fandom's done that job a hundred times over. This thread has analyzed every possibility and everyone in it has thrown out their own ideas about where the story could go or what could've been improved. Seeing just one other guy's version who happens to have Hussie's approval isn't that much different. Stories set in the Homestuck setting by other writers? Sure. If other writers are involved or even the lead on the Homestuck game, that doesn't have to be a bad thing - it'll be a different thing, but there's enough interesting ideas and style to Homestuck as a setting that other people can work in that space. I just don't think if Hussie passed off handling the same main story with the same main characters to anyone else that it could possibly actually feel like Homestuck anymore.
