The start and worldbuilding in this game is great, actually. You can't just get away with "Whoa! Wild Pokemon live in tall grass!" anymore. I agree, there should be an option for "I'm no rookie!", but trying to build a story around the safari catchemall game is laudable.

So uh... how are we doing EV training now? I miss Super Training and the training bags. Also, what's the earliest pokemon I can catch that has Synchronize?

I love how much easier it is to level up Pokemon in this game then in the original and second generation games. I definitely don't remember XP for fights that ended in you capturing a Pokemon. I like making sure all my Pokemon are roughly the same level, so it always took me forever to get anywhere the older games... The XP share makes it so much easier...

My owl boy turned into a jerk and I don't think I like him anymore :(

At least I was able to evolve the mystery gift Munchlax at level 18 so now I can just pretend that Snorlax was my starter all along.

I think EXP on catch and the EXP Share change happened in X/Y.

Actually, Gen 6 brought some amazing QoL improvements to Pokemon as a whole:

- Faster EXP overall
- Horde Battles for quick EV training
- Destiny Knot for passing down stats
- O-Powers
- Lots of online features
- Super Training

I ended up with a lot of perfect Pokemon in Gen 6, and it was fun to Wonder Trade away awesome rejects. Good times. Looking forward to doing the same this weekend.

Reset bags were hella useful. Hopefully there's an equivalent in this game? Maybe an NPC?

Question about the QR code things - is it possible to use them to get the other version's exclusive pokemon, or no? Because if so, I might need to bug some goons for a Drampa code when my game finally friggin' shows up.

I don't know why anybody would play video games in a world where you can teach your fire-breathing housecat how to demolish other peoples' pets with devastating wrestling moves and have it be considered a legitimate career path.

It's great because by the time you're both old enough to move out of your mom's house, your Munchlax has functionally evolved into a couch.
