I keep seeing STG-44s popping up all over the place and I have always wondered. Why use a 70+ year old rifle, when you have AK's piling up everywhere? Is there some sort of advantage to using a worn-out rifle with ammo that is somewhat difficult to come by when you can instead use an AK that's less than half as old and the ammo can be found in everyone's pantry? Hell, I bet you could get a gear-queered AR or G3 pretty easily if you saved a week's boy-love allowance.

I can't remember which country in Africa it was, but they still issue StG 44s to their militia.
