Comey's October surprise was probably the only true nothingburger of the entire campaign.

over time will it slowly change back to their old ways? yeah sure probably. but I think generally the fact that they were way too full of themselves has shown that nothing should be taken for granted

Call me an optimist, but I think it is a case of taking one step back to take two forward.

Too many people chose to protest the presidential election by not showing up. Going forward, we need to make clear to anyone we speak to, whether they are on board with our ideals or not, that the best place to make your point, whether by voting for or against a party or not voting for any party (or at all), is at the polls, and not at home, sitting on your couch.

Enough people abstained to vote for president while voting for the downballots in Michigan to make a difference in the race. The idea that people who "don't vote don't matter" is bupkis. People abstain from voting because neither party is offering them anything substantial. We had 52% turnout for the presidential race. When are Democrats going to get a drat clue and realize that there are way more non-voters they could be courting than Neocons or "moderate Republicans?"

Better for who? I don't think that a majority has ever been accurately polled in my lifetime. I know what I know is better, and I feel deep down that most agree. But whether I am right or wrong is immaterial. We need to get people to the polls. I believe that we will be vindicated by the results.

We need better candidates. The DNC should have been purged of every Clintonite a week after the election, but Donna Brazile is desperately clinging to interim power and refuses to give up her seat. Schumer is the minority leader, and he's going to be the Senate Democrats' sugar daddy. We have to start organizing campaigns to primary all of them right now. You can't give these people a chance after they lost the easiest election in history by constantly compromising with Republicans on destructive neoliberal policies. If Schumer and his ilk get swept back into power 4 years from now, then the whole cycle is just going to start over again. Only next time we might get somebody even worse than Trump.

Zero tolerance for either. Besides, Brazile's sins occurred before she became chair, and that appointment likely was a reward for those sins. If only another email leak could prove or disprove this.

All the things people have said for years about the Republican Party have come true about the Democrats: their party is just in it for the money, they don't care about electing people, they don't represent any voter interest, they're going to eventually die out.

All 100% completely true about the Democratic Party.

I didn't really see what kind of organization and effort went into GOP structuring in '08/'09 aside from the Tea Party, what with facing a Dem prez and Dem senate. I'd like to see how the Dems compare going forward. I sure hope I can get my hands on some sweet Soros-bucks out of this one.
